Guest guest
Ann, Here is what the EPA label, which states what the law is, says about Benefect Biocide AD. It is the only one of their products approved for forced air ducting. None of the others are legally allowed to used. Also as you will see below, they say to turn off the blower while using it. But the only way it will work by placing it by the air intake is with the blower running. * " 3.6 Returning the System to Operation following Application Fans and blowers in the section of duct being treated must be turned off during application of BENEFECT® BIOCIDE AD. If the system cannot be shut down, the section of duct being treated must be isolated until treatment is complete. This will prevent the spray of fog from being blown away form the surface that is being treated. * Do not attempt to use the system fan or blower to carry BENEFECT® BIOCIDE AD to the surfaces in the duct system. Such a practice will not result in uniform application of the product to the surfaces being treated and will lead to ineffective control. This should never be attempted. " This is posted on the Benefect Web site at: http://www.benefect.com/pdfs/Benefect_Label-BiocideAD.pdf When you read the rest of the label it does not sound as " safe " or as innocuous as the marketing promotion does. The good new is they have an EPA Registration number and official label to inform us. But we must read the label before making a decision. If this Thyme based product is so safe, why does EPA require all those protections? Carl Grimes Healthy Habitats LLC ----- Hi all. My accupunturist gave me this brochure today. They use this product and swear by it. It is Benefect and it is something you put in your air intake and it supposed to help with fungi and bacteria and such and approved by EPA. I don't know if this is garbage so that is why I wanted to ask if anyone knows about it. I don't think anything this easy could really clean the air. I guess it is all natural and is made from Thyme. Anyway I appreciate any info on this. Ann ---------- The following section of this message contains a file attachment prepared for transmission using the Internet MIME message format. Guest guest
Carl, It is a bit bizarre that you can't run the blower while treating with this, unless they just intended for it to be used for spot cleaning areas of ducting or parts of the air cleaner you can access. Ann is fortunate that she has someone like you to check in with. I know what it is like when you are ill and foggy headed, you can easily wind up not checking out everything that you need to and this sounds like something one should not mess around with. But you might think the people selling this would know more about it? Thanks for all that you do for us, Sam From: Carl E. Grimes <grimes@...> Subject: Re: [] Is this Real? Guest guest
An EPA number or registeration does not mean that the product is safe. Such products, like pesticides, contain inert ingredients that have never been tested for safety. Be careful of what you purchase and use.
