Guest guest
Good for you. Thinking outside of the box and making your own success is what separates the best from the average. Best of luck. e From: Tara Kimberley Torme Sent: Friday, November 07, 2008 1:58 PM To: aspires-relationships Subject: Update For Friday November 7, 2008 Friday November 7, 2008 Hi there, Sorry that I haven't emailed in a couple of weeks as I have been quite busy with lots of stuff on my plate at the current moment. I have some unanswered emails that I know that I need to answer. I promise that I will get to them as soon as I possibly can. I mentioned quite a few topics in my last email that now need some updating. First off, I mentioned to you about me entering the St. 's Hospital Healthy Heart Program and the blood tests that I had to complete. The first blood test that I did was to see if the medication that I'm currently taking was making me gain weight. When that test came back negative I had to take a second special blood test called a Dex Suppression test. That meant I had to take a special medication and fast from 10pm onwards and take a blood test the next morning. This particular test was to see if my own body was naturally making way too much cortisone - a possibilty of why I have been gaining so much weight and why I've had so much trouble losing the weight. The test results came back on Friday October 31, 2008 and my regular GP wanted to see me about it this morning at 8:45am. I don't know why they want to see me as it is the doctor at the St. 's Hospital who ordered the tests for me in the first place, not my regular GP. Since my regular GPis on a 3 month vacation, I went to see the replacement doctor. My mommy came in with me today for the results of the latest bloodwork. It turns out that everything is fine except for my thyroid which is slightly low right now. That explains why I’ve been feeling so tired as of late and why I’ve been having very little energy for anything right now. The conclusion I’ve come to for now is to go completely off all of my medications for the next few months and see what will happen. I’m going to cleanse my system out completely from all medications and then I will start from scratch if I do need any meds whatsoever. As it is, I don’t really have any life threatening illnesses or diseases that I need medication to save my life. This is just an experiment right now, but if going off of meds will help me to lose weight, then I will do that just so I am able to lose the extra weight I’ve gained over the last decade. Next, I had mentioned to you about my current employment status. I had talked about how I was extremely frustrated with my lack of getting, keeping and finding work, especially with my disability status of Asperger Syndrome. I was frustrated, that with all my talents and qualifications, I was unable to get past the interview stage of potential employers. Well, that has changed for me as of Monday November, 3, 2008. On Saturday November 1, 2008 when I was sitting at Starbucks for my regular monthly coffee meet I was overhearing people being interviewed for a tutoring service. Something clicked inside of me saying, "I should think outside the box and go into my own business for myself." I decided that I should stop actively looking for paid work in the conventional way and start looking for work in another unconventional method. I also realized that when I was successful at employment I had put up ads in High School for babysitting and I had my ownbabysitting service, where I was babysitting for quite a few years successfully and earning a nice, steady income for myself. I now realize that when I looked for work in the conventional setting, going to interviews, I was being hit up with so many roadblocks in the interview setting and that is how I came to get my diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome in March 2001. Anyway, to make a long story short, I was originally offered a chance to do some tutoring/reading comprehension for children with Asperger Syndrome/Autism through an old contact and I finally phoned him up on Monday November 3, 2008. I met up with him on Wednesday November 5, 2008 and I've written up a proposal for this service which I will email him today. Next, I also had another type of job offer to do some part time data entry through the Governent for only one day a week.I got this job offer through one of my contacts through the Dress For Success Organization. I finally got back to them, after a couple of weeks of emailing them and yesterday I met with them to do the paper work. Starting next Thursday November 13, 2008 I will be going in to do data entry from 8:30am-4:30pm. The starting pay for me is $18.55/hr which is great and I'm really excited about this prospect. It is only one day a week but I think this is a great thing for me and I'mlooking forward to starting my new employment. I had also mentioned that my mommy had ordered for me through her aeroplan miles a laptop computer on Friday October 17,2008. Well, On Wednesday November 5, 2008 it finally came in and now I am able to do some actual work from my computer wherever I go. I'm really excited about this and I'm still breaking in my new computer, figuring out all of the features my computer has, including a webcam and wireless internet and MSN Messenger etc. The actual computer is less than the size of a 8.5 x 11' loose leaf paper. It is an Acer notebook and an Intel Atom and it has Windows XP. I still have to figure out my wireless internet on this computer, but once I do and I have it properly set up, it will be much easier for me to check my email on a regular basis including my Facebook account. In conclusion, the last week or so has been an excellent one for me. Things are finally looking up and I’m finally slowly getting my life back on track. I really hope I hear from you again soon with some news about how you are doing. Guest guest
I'm catching up on how much time I've been away from ASPIRES. Congrats, Tara, on what you've been able to accomplish. Hope this turns into multiple days a week for you. > > Friday November 7, 2008 >  > Hi there, >  > Sorry that I haven't emailed in a couple of weeks as I have been quite busy with lots of stuff on my plate at the current moment.
