Guest guest
If your walls have paint on them predating the end of lead additives (ended at some point in the eighties although I think the ban was passed in '78), then scraping them down will release lead dust and that's the last thing you need in your lungs, skin and food. Brain damage results from small amounts which is why certified specialists are supposed to take care of such renovations in older buildings (ads will often say lead certified). Washing is okay but don't scrape them or 'rough them up', just paint over them and live with the lumps. I've always liked " The Best Paint Company " in seattle, wa. for no-VOC paints. You can order them without fungicides and mildicides added. Barb R.
