Guest guest
, You are on fire today! Great finds. This one is a very credible report. The National Center for Healthy Housing www.nchh.org was created and funded jointly by HUD, CDC, and EPA. One of the goals is to re-connect people and buildings. They have a Healthy Homes Practitioner program based on 7 principles of a healthy home, not just mold (clean and dry). http://www.nchh.org/What-We-Do/Healthy-Homes- Principles.aspx * Keep it dry * clean * safe * ventilated * pest free (IPM instead of chemicals) * contaminant free (including VOCs) * maintained You can get the course for free by downloading it from: http://www.healthyhomestraining.org/Practitioner/Materials.htm It is non-technical and easily comprehended by most people. It is a PDF of the powerpoint used in the course. The Web site is a gold mine of free information (well, paid for by taxes) and most can be downloaded. DISCLOSURE: I am biased in favor of NCHH and their programs. Although I have no finanicial interest in NCHH I have taken the Healthy Homes Practitioner course and met the additional requirements of a Healthy Homes Specialist (HHS) as independantly accredited by the National Environmental Health Association www.neha.org. I know the Executive Director, Director of Research, and the Director of Training. The Director of Training was one of the participants on my panel at the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) national conference in Fort Worth last February. I am the Chair of the IAQA committee working with NCHH on additional training materials, courses, and other programs. Consider those connections when evaluating my opinions above.
