HATTIESBURG - Robinett, MD, a pediatric neurologist at Wesley

Medical Center, recently co-authored an article in the international

scientific journal of Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology.

The article, " Neuromuscular Hip Dysplasia in Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease

Type 1A, " is featured in the journal's May 2009 issue.

" Charcot-Marie-Tooth is one of the most common inherited neurological

disorders, " Robinett says. " CMT typically begins with weakness and pain in

the lower extremities which can cause difficulty walking. " About 60 percent

of all CMT patients suffer from Type 1A.

Dr. Robinett, a native of New Orleans, received her medical degree from the

University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric

residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem,

North Carolina and then finished her pediatric neurology fellowship at the

University of Washington Pediatric Residency Program in Seattle. She is a

member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Child Neurology Society.

Dr. Robinett treats neurological conditions in patients who range in age

from newborns to 21 years old. She is currently the only physician

practicing in Hattiesburg who has received specialized training in treating

neurological conditions in children under the age of two.

For more information about CMT or to make an appointment with Dr. Robinett,

please contact her office at 296-3050.

Thank you. It is so hard to find a dr who knows about CMT enough to really

trust. Looks like we will be traveling werever we decide to go as no NJ

dr's around. Might try CHOP in Philly before we head to Miss or Detroit.

thanks
