Guest guest
OMG! The fires around here have caused such thick haze, it hurts my eyes if I have to be out in it, my eyes tear up. It smells so smokey. I feel so sorry for anyone that is asthmatic. It's horrible! In all our efforts for cleaner air and then this. Worse than all the exhaust that a car puts out that I have seen. I have never seen our skies like this in the summer. Usually they are very blue, it is a gray low lying haze now. I might have to invest in a filter mask. Can't open windows, the smoke smell comes in. I came from the outside into the nursing home to see Jim. He asked me if I'd been smoking. It's that bad, he can smell it in my clothes from the short walk from the car to indoors. I don't smoke. It did shock me that he could smell it, since I hear about the loss of smell for LBDers. Of course, he got delusional about fire and smoke and it has really set him off tonight. He never fell asleep before I left, he was trying to escape from his bed and get out of there. I usually sit until he falls asleep and leave, but it didn't happen tonight. I had to warn them at the nurse's station to keep an eye on him. He will dwell on the fire and smoke thing for hours. Don't come to sunny California, because there is no sun or at least you can't see it. In the San Francisco Bay Area anyway. For now there is cleaner air in SoCal. For those in the floods, wish you could send your water our way. Hope it is drying up for you and you will be back to some kind of norm soon. Interesting summer for sure.............Jan
