Guest guest
I'm SO thankful for this group! When the judge put me on the stand at my mom's guardianship hearing this morning he was asking me questions about the differences between LBD and other dementias, such as Alzheimer's. I wasn't prepared for that but had read enough in the files and links here that I could at least give a couple of answers. The guardian at litem that the court sent out to talk to her concurred that she needed a guardian, and wrote in his report that my mom had expressed agreement to him that I would be her choice. And so it was done. It was because of this group that I didn't look like an idiot on the stand . Now, my sister has her DPOA and I have guardianship, they tell me that we have all of our bases covered to make sure our mom's needs are met. There's a lot of cross-over as far as what we each can do but we have our lines drawn: on my side is the medical and personal care; on Gwen's is the business and financial affairs. We talk to each other about everything and get the other's opinions and keep each other informed, but when it comes down to it, we each have our responsibilities and decision-making authority in our own areas. Although we've agreed on everything so far anyway. What it's all about is our mom. It's not about us. And I think that because we both know that, it will work out ok.
