Guest guest
I was very satisfied with the outcome but especially for the level of knowledge about LBD that the - oh, I can't remember her title, she's the RN that does the care plans and is in charge of making sure that everything is in place for the patient's needs, as well as compliance stuff - anyway, Edie is her name and she is VERY well-versed in LBD. So much so that I suspect she did some homework before I got there! Apparently they feel my mom is settling in nicely enough that she's starting to feel at home, and is no longer a wander risk although they're leaving the bracelet on because of the dementia and she's so ambulatory and could easily be confused with a visitor. The other things we addressed were that my mom wants to keep her nail polish in her room so we decided on a way she can have access to it but it will still be out of reach of other residents, and also that she requests baths instead of showers but they keep giving her showers. They said that she can have baths in the whirlpool tub from now on instead of showers. And we discussed a couple of social things, one of which will really need its own post, but that I was pleased with how they're handling things - namely her desire to be helpful and busy. So they let her wash the tables in the activity room, sort the curlers in the beauty shop, fold and collate papers that need to be done, etc. She likes that and it makes her feel useful. Also discussed were her claims that they don't allow her to smoke (she never misses one of the smoking times, forgets when mealtimes are or where the dining room is, but is always ready at the 4 daily smoking times - lol!), and that she never gets to play her piano (she plays every day). Then I got an updated list of her meds, I'm not familiar with all of them but will look them up shortly: Namenda 5mg BID Norvasc 5mg QD EffexorXR 150mg QD Aricept 10mg HS Seroquel 50mg HS Also she's getting other meds that she's been on for years: Lasix (for COPD), Potassium (for Lasix), Spiriva (COPD), and her Synthroid. She also has an order for Albuterol inhalant PRN. The Namenda she was getting once a day but today is the first day it's been increased to twice. Whatever they're doing is working well I believe, and I have no complaints. Just checking in with the latest .
