'outing' well-known figures?

Is it poor form to speculate on this group

as to whether so-and-so well-known personality is or isn’t AS? For

instance, articles about AS regularly cite Bill Gates and Spielberg, but

to my knowledge they haven’t ‘outed’ themselves. My husband

and I while watching TV are constantly saying, “My Lord, X has GOT to be

an Aspie”, etc (in a humourous way). Is this topic considered personal

and gossipy? There is someone I think is great and I’m dying to seek

views about, but for all I know he might even be a group-member and would not

like to be discussed in this way. Or not.
