Carl...

YOu are great at what you do...but, in this case it's like nailing Jello to a

wall....direct?it to?those who know what you have to offer, rather than their

'opinion' that they can help you...or get a link to your website.

leslie,

I agree with you and the others in principle. But not in the

situation with Pete. I e-mailed him many encouragements. I sent

him multiple e-mails which were ignored until I publically posted

the question asking him why didn't he respond.

This is a most amazing forum. One of the profound aspects of it is, the

civility and openess that goes on between list members. When you consider that

there are very often many similar questions that are asked over and over

by new members and that for the most part these questions are answered not

only with a lot of patience and a great deal of explanation, but there are

often numerous people jumping in to help.

and openess that goes on between list members. When you consider that there are

very often many similar questions that are asked over and over by new members

and that for the most part these questions are answered not only with a lot of

patience and a great deal of explanation, but there are often numerous people

jumping in to help.

I can't and won't speak for all those on the list who have been made ill by

exposures to mold and chemicals. But I know that for myself, there are times

where I can barely find enough energy to get through the day's emails, let alone

send along an intelligent reply or question. My cognitive impairments are often

not very good and lately getting worse. And I know here that I am not alone at

all. How many of us struggle in this way and have additional enormous issues

such as where and how to live--- literally in some cases, how to survive. And

still these same people are often the first to try to extend a helping hand over

and over again. That is an enormous testament. Also, those on the list who are

our experts have time and again given of themselves, taken time from their work

days to very considerately address those in need as Carl did with Pete. Also a

number of others really extended themselves in a most compassionate manner and

tried to encourage him

to stay. I know it can be real frustrating when some of us, don't seem to get

the info or understand it the first time. Many of us deal with our doctors who

lose their patience with us when we don't seem to get things the first time. As

my wife has said very often, " if you had a broken leg people would know that you

can't walk very well, let alone run. But with an illness or spate of chronic

conditions like many of us have, most people don't have the patience to

understand that something more subtle within us is (hopefully only for the

present and not the future) is impaired " . For those who are well and or are

experts it can add to the frustration of being understood or having to explain

it all again. How much of these kind of issues were at hand when Pete was making

his decisions about what to do or say or write is hard to say. The fact that he

was given the benefit of the doubt and that all left the door open to him is

incredible and wonderful.

We are for the most part all strangers here. We can't see one another. We can't

hear the tone of voice. Yet over and over again, we as a group try to give

everyone on the list the benefit of the doubt, even for many of us at our own

expense of trust. I feel that this is so commendable and the importance of this

kind of willingness to trust and to be accepting in spite of the " sturm and

drang " that can arise is incredible and always a lesson for me.

With all the pressures we all have on a daily basis, I never cease to be

impressed and deeply appreciate the caring that goes on.

Thanks to you all for being true models of compassion and kindness and courage,

Sam

I have only read a little about this issue but I hate to see anyone feel they

have to leave. I don't think Pete needs to leave. Been here for ten years

and there have been ups and downs but we are here for each one here.

Sometimes when you are in this mess you don't always think before you

leap. Hope you can work out the problem and stay with the group. My

opinion. :)
