Guest guest
, I forgot to mention the natural supplements I take for pain. I take Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C, and CoQ10. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and CoQ10 are currently being researched as potential treatments for CMT1A. Alpha Lipoic Acid is used for diabetic neuropathy. It can also increase the effectiveness of vitamin C and E in the body. (You can Google it for more information.) I also took extra Vitamin E for awhile, but then read that it interfered with the effectiveness of the vitamin C in CMT1A patients, so I discontinued taking the extra Vitamin E and saw a noticeable improvement. (I still take a regular multi-vitamin with 30 mg vit E, just no extra.) I also take Calcium with Vitamin D. I was taking extra magnesium, but then found it was increasing the frequency of my legs cramps, so discontinued it. I also try to avoid too much sugar. It makes me feel achy, like the flu and adds to the fatigue. Alcohol does the same thing to me. A diet with lots of fruits and vegetables and lean protein, water with fresh lime juice, plus CoQ10, ascorbic acid and vitamin C, after my own little experiments, that's what I found helps me the most.
