Guest guest
Hi Sue, I'm very sorry to hear about what you are dealing with. My wife and I for the first time ever had a similar situation this summer. Within a month of each other we had tic bites. Very weird as we were not outside much at all this summer. We had the Igenx test which is a much better test a few months after the bite. " www.igenx.com " . I tested positive for that. What we were told was that you can still have lyme and it might not even show up on a test like Igenx. If your immune function was compromised it might not even display the antibodies to fight it. So, the thought with some docs is to go by symptoms as well as tests. There are a number of docs near you in Md who treat for lyme. If you'd like some names, and other sources for information feel free to post me directly. Like you, in addition to the other chronic issues, I've been trying to research and treat this as well. Of course, as a patient of Dr. Shoemaker you know he treats for lyme and would be able to help you. From the little I know of his protocol, isn't the csm also helpful for it? God bless, Sam On top of it all I was just bitten by a deer tick the day after Thanksgiving! I'm taking antibiotics the Dr. did some test that I've since found out isn't even a Lyme test ( ABY without reflex whatever that is) and shouldn't even be done until about 4 weeks after the bite. At least I found it, no rash yet, no symptoms but who knows. Only gave me 10 days of doxycycline but I am going back tomorrow to get 3 weeks more. Info I was given says a months worth then test. Guest guest
Thanks, Sam. I'm sorry to hear about your tick bites. Did you actually see the tick or just see a rash? My husband also has Lyme but has no idea when he was bitten since he never saw a tick or rash. He started having headaches, neck & shoulder pain and then finally some stiffness that he thought was just getting older. After seeing 3 Drs. for over a year the ENT one asked if he'd ever been tested for Lyme!! He has seen Dr. Shoemaker, taken the Actos and CSM along with the Amylose Free diet and is doing much better. I still take the CSM 2X a day so I'm hoping that will help with the bite. I went to a Patient First Dr. the weekend after Thanksgiving because I had no where else to turn. Certainly not the ER! He examined my toe and tick, gave me a tetanus shot and did a test that I'm not familiar with at all. Today (10thday of Doxycycline) I went to my family Dr. who gave me 21 more days of Doxy to make it one month. He said to return in mid Jan. for the Western Blot. So that's where I stand right now and am very nervous. Never thought reaching retirement years would be this stressful! Who are the other Drs. in land? I have 4 other friends with Lyme but they don't want to travel to Pocomoke. Thanks, again! Sue >> I'm very sorry to hear about what you are dealing with.
