Ski Bike

I have CMT 1A and I don't have strong enough legs to ski, but I've wanted to

find a way to join my wife in winter sports. I tried a ski bike this weekend at

a local ski area. It is essentially similar to a small bmx bike with skis for

wheels. I thought it was great! They make different kinds of ski bikes, some

where you are supposed to ride them with small skis attached to your feet.

The one that I rode allowed you to rest your feet on pegs and wear regular

hiking boots. I did use my legs/feet to help turn and stop. My wife and I did

3 runs (all green/easy). Negotiating the chair lift took a little time (you

have to rest the back of the bike on the seat and hold it (the bike probably

weighed about 30 lbs). By our third time up, everything went pretty smoothly.

Anyway, if you have a ski area close by that rents ski bikes I would recommend

giving them a try (I went to Brundage Ski area in McCall). If you are

interested in them you can do a search of " Ski Bike " .
