Wow, thanks Gretchen. I think this gives me plenty to start a workout. I am

going to try to do a routine and get in the pool this morning!

deep water running

Hi Jackie,

When I run, I am in about 5 feet of water. And I jog in place facing into a 3

mph current. My arms are moving the same as they would if I ran on earth, but in

the pool, they get a different workout. It's part of the cardio-aqua variation I

do. And for sure I wear shoes to protect my feet! I'm not tethered to anything

nor do I wear a belt. Sometimes I use a 'noodle' (foam tube) to cushion the

spine.

Some info below (of course this is for runners/athletes and not for CMT, but

you'll get the idea.

I just " run " the length of the pool. And back. And Forth. and Back...

I started out in a five foot exercise pool, but my back couldn't take the bump,

bump, bump on the pool bottom.

I now work in deep water and use a belt for flotation. For flexibility and to

hold off boredom I use a wider stance and externally rotate my legs, almost like

running in a tire drill.

Over the summer a wave pool was put in, but I haven't been working out as my

right leg became much weaker over the summer, and I my physical therapist at I

will meet three time a week for three months to see answer the great question,

" Can This Leg be Saved? " .

I have copyrighted the name and hope to pitch the show to NBC as a mid-season

replacement.

Regards,

Be sure to use a body wash in the shower after being in the pool. This will

negate any chroline effects. Is your pool indoor or outdoor? It could be a mix

of chemicals that is not PH checked daily.

Wow! That is how i feel just walking! Using this metaphor, that of

walking in water, is how I describe to people how difficult it is for

me to walk across the room.

I do like swimming, because those 3-D effect allows you to get into

positions and do stretches that you could otherwise not do without

falling over, but it's difficult for me to deal with the temperature

of the water in most pools.

Hi ,

My experience with LA Fitness indoor pools is that the temperature is fairly

comfortable.  I believe there may be some of these near you.  You may be able

to try it out as a guest, if interested.

Larry,

This is a yoga movement I do on my back. Very helpful in increasing

the length of stride.
