Guest guest
Some antibiotics make me feel really weak. I try to only use natural antibiotics when I need them.
Guest guest
I am AGHAST! My son has used a boat load of Floxin since infancy. He had ear infections one right after the other! Does anyone know anything I can do to determine if this is the cause of his CMT? In His Most Merciful Name, Ziegler
Guest guest
, CMT is a genetic disorder. The antibiotics did NOT 'cause' the CMT. The CMT is in his DNA. But it is possible long term use antibiotics may have worsened the CMT. Talk to your doctor about this. Gretchen
Guest guest
Right, but we are still in the testing stage to determine if he has a genetic disorder (CMT) or not. I am still in the learning stage and they threw out CMT and seem to have made up their minds that that is what he has without the actual test results. Guest guest
This is where I respectfully disagree with Gretchen. The links I provided cited research which tags those antibiotics with DNA changes. Is it possible the CMT defective gene is 'triggered' by an environmental factor, like an antibiotic, or a vaccine or industrial chemicals, etc.? Certainly. Is it possible that the above agents can 'cause' a genetic DNA defect that didn't previously exist? Certainly. We know this already happens with certain chemicals. Whether that's the case with your son, however, I have no way of knowing. Now, my posing questions in no way implies a statement of fact. But, like any good investigator/scientist, the questions should be explored, and answered. > > Right, but we are still in the testing stage to determine if he has a genetic disorder (CMT) or not. Guest guest
I forwarded your post to 's Neurologist and he agreed that this is something we need to research. He has asked that I gather records from my pharmacist regarding all meds he has received since birth. I can not thank you enough for your curiosity. It has lead us to a new avenue to explore!
