Guest guest
Bonnie, (and the group) Would you know that Fibro is not a new disease. I read up and it has been around for about 100 years. It has had other names, I think it was fibrotosis or something like that till they figured out all the details of this disease. And the best part is (this one pisses me off the most) that before they had a name for it, 1950's or so... They called it " the nagging housewives disease " Isn't that just lovely. I hate that so many STILL view this disease as being in your head. We know it is closely associated with one's mental state. (we all know stress makes it worse) The catch is that when you feel so damn horrible how can your mental state not be affected???? jenn
Guest guest
Good morning my new friends and fellow Fibro. suffers, My name is Rise " ( pronounced Reesa) and I am the mother of 11 adopted special needs children. I was diagnosed with Fibro. nearly9 months ago. I have been a lurker here for the last few weeks, just reading and trying to get acquainted with the list. The Dr's say that because of the stress level of the last year my fibro has worsened considerably. Most of my stress was due to a birth parent trying to disrupt our adoption and now that she has lost, and we are looking for a new home to move to, my stress is going down to the normal every Day life. However my Fibro has progressed to such a point that there are days when I can not function at all. I try not to complain too much as the Lord does give me many good days. My question to all of you pros is this, what do I do to try and get my days back on track? How do you have good nights and good days? I had to have the carpal tunnel surgery on both of my hands and the Dr's told me they were not showing up as bad as I was describing to them. But they did the surgery anyway. I wish I had not done it. The use of my hands is so limited now. The Fibro fog gets so bad some days that I can hardly think straight and that is so worry some. Right now the only meds that I am on are vitamin b supplements, a pathetic pain pill at night and a pill for my RLS> My lower body hurts so badly at night that most nights I can't sleep. The other parts hurt but for now I can deal with the pain. I think the worst part of this disease so far is how it has affected my ability to enjoy my children. and even joy life some days. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this place that I am praying will be able to help me begin to enjoy life better. Rise "
