Hi,

I have MCS as well. I do not use the central heat,  in an emergency I got a

Honeywell suround heater, it is for a small space but does a good job.  On the

bad end it had to off-gas, it is plastic.

There are ceramic heaters, I have heard from others they have used the Lasko

brands.

Radiant heaters  I have heard f the Bionaire

MCS Management :  Read down the page

The best tolerated heating system is usually hot water radiator heat, followed

by steam radiator or electric heat.

Subject: [] Space heaters ?

Hello,

Zippy here. Long time member.

I need some assistance please.

We don't have central heat and air. We still heat with

space heaters, the old ceramic stack kind with wires coiling

around the stacks. I was asking a young lady about them

the other day at Lowe's. She had no clue. Didn't know what

I was talking about. (I think I'm becoming ... " dated " )

Anyway, I don't think they make these things anymore, and

the parts seem to be drying up too. Our switches seem to need replacing about

once every five years. I'm afraid I won't be able to go on with these much

longer.

The upside to them is that they are all metal, no chemical smells at all. The

downside is, I've heard, they use a lot of electricity to heat with. And they

are harder and harder to find.

I tried a new 110v oil filled heater recently, but we couldn't seem to get it to

stop off gassing. It also had a plastic front housing. In fact, all the heaters

I examined so far have been partly, or mostly plastic. This is very disturbing !

Has anyone found an appropriate space heater for someone with MCS ?

Preferably, it would be a 220v, so it could really do some longterm,

workhorse, heating. But ANYTHING would be helpful at this point.

TIA,

Todd in (chilly and damp) Tenn.

I use 3 Delongi oil fin heaters. I had to run them for awhile elsewhere but not

for that long and then they were fine. Very low, safe heat. Pets will sleep

right next to them, no worry of being burned. I do not have mcs though but I

pick up the scent of odor well.
