Guest guest
Weigh in this morning. Gained a pound. Since exercize isn't working as well as I'd like, I'm going to focus more on diet this week. I'll try for less than 1000 calories a day, plus exercize every day. Hope I don't flare this week. After 4 weeks in first place, I was in second at week 5, and third now at week 6 (for which there is still a prize). I have five weeks left to get back into first. Third place has no real competition at this point, but I still need to work hard to keep it that way. Carole told everyone that I didn't really win last week because we are using pounds instead of BMI, not true. She doesn't seem to care that we had it writing from day one that the official measure is BMI. She is giving me hell every step of the way on this thing. Just more incentive for me to win, and laugh at her for gaining weight most weeks. If I do win, she will fight it though. If we do this again, I'm only in if she is out! Here's to hard work & good luck. Thanks for all your support. Cheryl
Guest guest
Thanks for the advice... If only it were as easily done as said. Sleep - I sleep 8 to 9 hours most nights already. So I'm not too worried about that part. I am still tired all the time though, but don't have the free time to sleep more. With work, school, and kids - I have to prioritize. Alkalinity - I've been taking tums as you suggested, but not nearly so many, doc says it is way too much. After talking to the doc about avoiding the acidic fruits, he thinks it a very bad idea, but I have cut back on them. In fact, the lymphologist says acidic fruits actually help lower the body's acidity. He also recommended millet, pickles, and one other thing I can't remember. He doesn't like me taking tums at all, but I still do. He is all for natural foods, rather that drugs, suppliments, or processed stuff - I tend to agree. He worked on me last night and that helped. I lost 1.5 pounds since yesterday. I had cheerios for b-fast, yogurt for lunch, carrots & a toamto for dinner. I spread them out so it was more like snacking all day. When I got home I did the Nordic Trac for 30 min, the lymphologist worked on me for 30 min, then my kids wanted to go for a walk - a whopping 2 hours and I would guess about 3.5 miles. We were all worn out when we got home; I still am. This morning I did another 15 min on the Nordic Trac. I'm going for 10 lbs this week to try to catch up, though I'd be lucky if that puts me back in second place. I looked up info on calories - 3500 in a lb of fat. 2200 to sustain me for a day at low activity level. Only 100 for a mile of walking. I'd guess 150 for 1/2 hr on the nordic Trac. No wonder this is so hard. Plus, men lose weight easier, and I'm one of only two women left in it (the other isn't trying). Guest guest
Then don't use TUMS. Change your food. Or alkalize your water - but you won't know how much to do without monitoring saliva pH. If you monitor your saliva pH, you will also see the truth on what foods change pH in Fibros. Too acid and you will be tired all the time. For sleep, the eye mask and ear plugs are the only thing I know that works great for getting enough deep, restorative sleep. Otherwise we are just wasting time with our heads turned off. The truth is setting us free. Annie Weightloss Update > > > Weigh in this morning. Gained a pound. Since exercize isn't working > as well as I'd like, I'm going to focus more on diet this week. Guest guest
I've been monitoring pH, still pretty low, but slightly better than when I started. How do you alkalize water? I've been drinking a lot of water, so that might help quite a bit. The eye mask and ear plugs kind of bother me, but my room is very dark and quiet, so I think I'm ok without them. Couple years back, when I was working nights, I put up really thick curtains. And my sweet girls know that when mom is resting or sleeping, they should be very quiet. Thanks for all your help Anne. I hope you don't think I'm trying to shoot down your advice, I love it. I just get so many conflicting opinions from everywhere. I have been following some of your stuff - mucinex, tums, watching pH. When I'm out of school in July, I think I'll put more time and effort into fibrofix and paying attention to how well it is actually working. Have a great day everyone, Cheryl P.S. I'm down 3.5 lbs since yesterday's weigh-in. I'm working hard on it.
Guest guest
I'm really pushing hard this week to catch up. And don't worry, I won't try to keep this up more than a week or two. I'm not going anorexic or anything... I've put myself on a very calorie restricted diet, along with a lot of exercize. I am down five pounds in two days. That much alone will probably give me the weekly prize, but I'm set on getting the lead back. If you don't like to read very personal stuff, skip this paragraph. I get these text messages from self magazine with weight loss tips. A recent one said that the best time to start a diet is on the first day of your monthly cycle, because your cravings will not be nearly so bad - I've found this to be very true, and don't think I could do the calorie restrictions without it in my favor. I had lucky timing, in that it started on the day of weigh-in, when I found out I was down to third place. And I always lose 2 or 3 pounds during the first few days anyway, because they are so heavy. Otherwise, I'd probably be down just 2 or 3 lbs with how I'm eating, which is still pretty good. For just this one week, I am eating 300 to 500 calories a day, mostly b-fast cereal, fruit, yogurt, and plenty of vitamins; and exercizing at least an hour, even if I have to break it up into smaller time periods. I know it's only been a couple of days, but I've noticed a lot of differences: I feel normal person exercize fatigue, but not the overwhelming fibro fatigue, which has really surprised me. I'm sleeping much better, though I'm tired today because I got to bed very late last night. I always get dizzy spells, which have slightly increased. My acid refulx is gone, though I have trouble swallowing carrots - I can't figure that one out. My IBS is gone, and my tummy doesn't growl nearly as much as it used to - it only did once after I ate part of a pepperoni calzone, maybe it was the carbs. My normal back pains got a little worse just before I started this, and have not improved yet; but they are usually worse when I exercize a lot - we'll see how that plays out. I know this would be too hard for me too keep up very long anyway, I am weak when it comes to food. This week, there are no holidays, family parties, people trying to take me out to eat, and I'm not seeing Grandma who has tons of homemade food around all the time " have more of this, have some of that, take a few cookies with you, you don't need to lose weight... " Sorry to ramble on so long. I'm bored at work at the moment. Have a great day, Cheryl
Guest guest
HI CHERYL I WANTED TO TELL YOU ABOUT SOMETHING I RAN ACROSS BECAUSE IT IS HELPING ME EXERCISE BETTER THAN I HAVE EXERCISED FOR YEARS NOW. IT IS CALLED MAG 85 CHLOR. IT IS MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE DROPS. ITS FROM THE PAIN AND STRESS CENTER WHICH YOU CAN LOOK UP ON LINE. I HAVE BEEN TAKING IT FOR PAIN AND I AM NOW EXERCISING WITHOUT MY FIBRO GETTING UP TO A TEN ANYMORE. I AM STAYING BETWEEN A 2 AND A 4 (ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10) I KNOW YOU ARE TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT AND EXERCISE IS A MUST FOR THAT SO YOU DON¹T LOWER YOUR METABOLISM TOO MUCH FROM STARVATION DIETING. SO CHECK OUT THE PAIN AND STRESS CENTER WHICH DEALS WITH FM AND SEE IF THAT WORKS FRO YOU TOO. ITS NOT EXPENSIVE EITHER. GOOD LUCK > > > > I'm really pushing hard this week to catch up.
