Guest guest
, Beans, oatmeal, brown rice, and fresh fruits and veggies will lower cholersterol. I believe good fats also can help lower it.
Guest guest
Hi , A few of us take statins. I take Crestor. But statins can cause problems and should be considered a treatment of last resort, i.e. only when nothing else works and the risk vs not taking it is higher than the risk of taking it, something you need to determine with the help of your doctor. Other things I also do: Try to move as much as I can each day, also take fish oil, eat oatmeal, macadamia nuts, lean protein (no 'four-legged' animals), lots of veggies, and limit anything 'white' like white flour & sugar. Important to note: Just eating less in general also makes a big difference. Be careful with niacin and red yeast rice. These can cause their own problems. Do your research before self-medicating. This subject has come up many times in the past, so you could also search the Archives here & you'll find lots of info on the risks/problems people have had as well as what others are doing to successfully control their cholesterol instead of statins. For example, I recall some recipes that were shared a few months ago by others that you might find helpful.
Guest guest
, I take Lovastatin for high cholesterol. Both Lipitor and Crestor caused me muscle pain. I think Lovastatin is not as strong a drug, but it has helped me.
Guest guest
and all thank you for your responses. For now we are going to try dietary changes and I'm increasing my walks to daily to see if I can bring it down some before we go the medication route.
