Guest guest
Not only was I bad over the weekend, but I forgot my lunch today. The kids left some pop-tarts in the back seat of the car, so guess what I ate for lunch... mmm, high fructose corn syrup. Did anyone see that PBS special on the corn they use for that stuff? Nasty. Some of it gets fed to cattle in the feed lot. They have to send them to slaughter in 150 days, because they won't live much longer than that on their diet. They get acidosis so bad it will kill them for sure. These guys made some HFCS in their kitchen, and had to use hazard gear - thick rubber aprons & gloves, goggles, tongs, etc. I'm glad I already avoid soda. (80% of HFCS ends up in soda.) Now I watch for it in other things as well. It is everywhere. We need to avoid it like the plague. Shame on me... Pop tarts for lunch... sheesh. Guest guest
Weigh-in today. Up 2 pounds. Keep in mind that last week I didn't eat or drink anything before weigh-in. Today, I had breakfast, then drank 4 cups of water just beforehand. (I really think I am unchanged, or lost a pound.) I knew I lost the weekly challenge because of the flare- up, so I figured if I go for a little higher weight today, that will help for next week. I ache all over, and feel like I can hardly move, but I need to get back into it. Yesterday is the first day in this thing that I did no exercize whatsoever, and I feel even worse today. But I need to win, for my health, and for the cash. I need both. But right now, all I want to do is sleep. Any suggestions or motivation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Cheryl
Guest guest
Hi Cheryl. I have been reading your posts about weight loss. I am very impressed with your commitment. My encouragement to you is just to hang in there with your efforts and believe in yourself. I agree that up two pounds is just water and breakfast. I have lost some weight over the last year, and I find living with fibro a little easier because of it. And good luck with the competition! > > Weigh-in today. Up 2 pounds. Guest guest
Thank you . I didn't exercize again yesterday. But I will tomorrow. I'm doing the Walk for Autism put on by AutismSpeaks.org (Both my kids have it). I may not make it very far, but I will try. Plus I didn't raise very much money, but every penny counts. It should be fun anyway. It should be very interesting too, being around so many people with Autism and their families. I just might learn something new about it. Have a great weekend everyone, Cheryl > > Hi Cheryl. I have been reading your posts about weight loss. I am > very impressed with your commitment. Guest guest
Yeeup, sounds like a flare up to me. These come in different forms. Feeling tired after a minor chore is something I get. Then I start feeling soooo tired I feel my heart is going to stop any moment. Although I am taking medication once in a while I get this BUT no pain. I hope you can get through this comfortably. As for weight loss hang in there keep up the water and green tea helps. Corn silk tea also helps with water retention(Good for Kidney problems too). Good Luck, we are all pulling for you. I felt like I'd been going for half an hour. Still only down a total of 10 (after putting some back on). That first week was great, but I haven't been able to keep it up. Guest guest
Hi! I don¹t know what body type you are but for me to lose weight I need to do a ³diet² like this. I eat lots of veggies, whether they be canned, frozen, fresh, juiced or sauteed in non oily juices. Then I eat protein with that. Egg white omelette with garlic, broccolie tomatoes etc. I cook a big batch of that and eat it in 3 segments. Its very gratifying because it tastes so good. If you can tolerate the cholesterol eat the whole eggs but I can¹t Also chicken, fish, shrimp some beef etc. But I cut my carbs down to less than 70 grams a day. Sometimes I even go to 40 grams a day. You can buy crackers that are very low in fat and carbs and eat a couple at a time to quell your cravings. I also munch on carrots, green beans etc. I do not eat fast food, no sweets, very little dairy. Then I lose weight steadily. I can maintain by eating all of the above in small quantities but to LOSE weight I eat mainly protein and vegetables. NO potatoes, no french fries, no breads, (unless half a slice twice a day) no pasta no rice (just for a few weeks though) etc. See if that works for you. If you are on the road and starving buy a protein bar, or carry a protein shake package in your purse. There are all kinds of no carb items out there now. I am diabetic/hypoglemic and so this is my lifestyle. I used to weigh 215 pounds now I maintain 145 by eating as above. I paid a lot of money to a diet clinic to learn to eat like this but it literally saved my life as I was not doing well at all. Hope this helps. > > > > I think I hit a plateau on the weightloss. Guest guest
Do you eat fruits on this diet and what types of exercises do you do? I'm also a diabetic I've gained 70lbs in the last couple of years. I have tried almost everything and the weight does not budge. Guest guest
Thanks very much for the advice. It seems like a lot for me to remember and keep up, but I will try. I may just have to ease into it slowly. But I thought shrimp was really fattening??? Is it really good for a diet? Also, someone here said fruit is bad for weight loss; is this true? Thanks. We had a weigh in this morning. Basically, I just lost what I gained last week (4.5 lbs). Probably, the difference is mostly due to normal daily fluctuations. But it was enought to tie for the win this week. We are using BMI (Body Mass Index), rather than pounds. The other winner is much taller than me and lost 6 lbs, but we both went down .75 BMI. Now I'm hungry. Time for my salad. Cheers, Cheryl > > > > > > > > > I think I hit a plateau on the weightloss. Guest guest
Hi Its not really a lot to remember. Shrimp is a protein and there are no fattening proteins unless you eat it fried. Even beef, which does have fat, is not as bad as potatoes and french fries etc. Just remember veggies and protein. Of course you should ease into anything because you need to learn about it as you go along. I just know that ³white² carbs (spaghetti, white potatoe, white bread, white rice) make almost anyone fat but you get plenty of carbs from veggies including sweet potatoes and millet bread etc. Look up south beach diet on line. They have a plan that eases you into healthy weight loss eating. That might help you learn a new way of eating also. Good luck > > > > Thanks very much for the advice. Guest guest
Weigh-in today. Down 7.5 this week, total of 20. I'm also down from about size 17/18 to about size 14/15, and no longer " obese, " YAY! I'm wearing some nice slacks I haven't fit in for quite some time. Oh yeah, I'm back in the lead too. If the two guys ahead of me had been trying this week, I might not be, but they were up .5 and down 1 respectively. Cutting carbs helped a ton. Thanks for the advice. I couldn't keep up the way low calorie thing, but I'm glad I did it, because now I'm not as hungry as I used to be all the time. So I'm eating fewer calories - smaller portions and good foods (mostly). Cheers, Cheryl
