Space heaters ?

Hello,

Zippy here. Long time member.

I need some assistance please.

We don't have central heat and air. We still heat with

space heaters, the old ceramic stack kind with wires coiling

around the stacks. I was asking a young lady about them

the other day at Lowe's. She had no clue. Didn't know what

I was talking about. (I think I'm becoming ... " dated " )

Anyway, I don't think they make these things anymore, and

the parts seem to be drying up too. Our switches seem to need replacing about

once every five years. I'm afraid I won't be able to go on with these much

longer.

The upside to them is that they are all metal, no chemical smells at all. The

downside is, I've heard, they use a lot of electricity to heat with. And they

are harder and harder to find.

I tried a new 110v oil filled heater recently, but we couldn't seem to get it to

stop off gassing. It also had a plastic front housing. In fact, all the

heaters I examined so far have been partly, or mostly plastic. This is very

disturbing !

Has anyone found an appropriate space heater for someone with MCS ?

Preferably, it would be a 220v, so it could really do some longterm,

workhorse, heating. But ANYTHING would be helpful at this point.

TIA,

Todd in (chilly and damp) Tenn.
