Guest guest
In typical Italian, I finally posted the pictures I took at the Mille Miglia " race " as it passed my apartment. Mille Miglia translates at Thousand Miles (1600 Km). It was an endurance race that started in Bresica looped south to Rome, and returned to Bresica. As long as only drivers were killed in accidents, the race was held, but when more spectators were killed than drivers, the race was stopped. Today it is run as a Rally for vintage cars that actually raced or could have raced -- cars built between 1927 and 1957. This year over 400 cars entered. For those who know cars, 20 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gull Wing cars passed in a parade. Here is a website of the Mille Miglia Museum(English) in Bresica: http://www.museomillemiglia.it/defaulteng.asp. If you travel to Italy, skip the Ferrari museum in Maranello and see this one. The Ferrari " museum " is a shill for the Ferrari store across the street with only four cars built before 1985. The Album is title Mille Migla -- misspelled! Regards. --Larry
