Guest guest
I just tried the WalkOn AFO today and I was unable to walk in them. I did share the links to the Helios and the orthotist did say they look like nice braces however they have not done anything new or dynamic. $10,000 for a pair is crazy but at the same time worth it if they truly work for others I can see it worth the big expense. Has anyone heard of " Blue Rocker " made by " Allard? " That's what he ordered for me after seeing how the WalkOn AFO's didn't offer stability. This brace will help with balance and the feeling of falling forward. I seem to walk on the outside of my feet with my current custom made plastic AFOs. The link for the Blue Rocker is below. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Andy http://www.allardusa.com/pdf/Egg_Letter.pdf
Guest guest
Andy, I am glad you have found an orthotist that seems to be working closely with you. Jackie
Guest guest
Hi Andy, My daughter started wearing the ToeOff AFO in November & it has made a huge difference in her ability to keep up on the playground. Her orthotist also fitted her with a plastic SMO boot that she wears at the same time to help with ankle stability. Without any device she has pretty bad toe drop and walks on the outside of her foot, causing her to roll her ankle almost constantly. The combination of devices she has now is such that when she is out playing, I can't tell her apart from the other kids just by her gait alone. She is too small to benefit from the Blue Rocker design, but I understand it is in the same family of devices & will be something she will likely benefit from when she does get bigger. Hope this info helps!
Guest guest
My brother wears TOE OFF BLUE & ROCKER by ALLARD. He is in love with them. He says he wishes he had them sooner. He strongly recommends them. He wasn't able to walk backwards or dance and with the blue rocker braces he is doing both things. We are very happy for him. He seems to be a different person since wearing the braces. Betania
Guest guest
Hi Andy, I wear Blue Rockers. I've had them for a year this month and I really like them. I lost some stability when standing still, but walk better, fall less, feel stronger when walking in my apartment without my AFOs and even feel like I'm developing stronger muscles (maybe even a little calf lol). Good luck trying them. Hope you like them as much as I do. (ex Milwaukee, now Mississauga, Ontario, Canada)
Guest guest
Jackie, Thanks much and yes I agree it take so little to be nice and treat people like people. I was happy to hear that he will not close the book and tell me to deal with it that there is nothing that can be done. Even if in the end he can't help at least I know he gave it a real try that's all I ever ask. Andy
