Chemotherapy drugs and CMT

Hello friends,

Do any of you have experience with chemotherapy drugs and their effect

on your CMT?

I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and had my surgery last week.

I will be referred to an oncologist for chemotherapy and want to be

prepared to discuss possible treatments. The medical alert document in

the " files " section lists many of the drugs commonly used to treat

breast cancer and groups them by risk. Gretchen, do you know the source

of this information?

I recognize that everyone's cancer journey is different, but I would be

grateful to hear from anyone who experienced an adverse impact on CMT

from using specific chemotherapy drugs.

Hi

I take Gleevec which is a cancer drug used for some cancers. For my use it is

for leukemia. I have been on the meds for 18 months. Lots of side of effects.

Mostly more pain and more fatigue. But I have no alternative it's the only drug

I can take to survive. So I try to meditate and bare with it.

Dear Donna,

I only know to the effects of Vincristine.

My son was diagnosed with Hodkinsons disease and he was given Vincristine. This

is how we found out that he had CMT. He fell down one day and could not walk or

use his hands.

After one month of horrible tests they finally found out that he had

Hodgkinsons disease and should not have been given Vincristine. He ended up with

much worse case of CMT than he would normally have had

It affected his legs and his hands.

Sorry for your problems. Be careful about what they give you and good luck

BAC (Barb)
