Guest guest
Hi, I live in Phoenix, pollution bad here-- headaches, eyes, mouth, throat burning, irritated lungs just about every day. I hate to wear a mask, stay in the house (except for short outings- errands, doctor, etc.) with my air cleaners. The air in N Tucson is supposed to be cleaner than here, so I am considering relocating, been checking on the net (for the past year) for a duplex, 4-plex or older mobile home in a 55+ community. I had a 1976 MH, currently own a 1975-- no toxic problems in either one as long as I stay away from all those products that are harmful for MCSrs. I would appreciate any opinions on a 1979 singlwide that I am to look at Wed. So far, it's the only place that seems worth considering. The owner is willing to rent it to me for a year so I can see if it works for me, then I can buy it. She is MCS (mild, I think), used to live in it, never been smoked in, in good condition. I have 2 concerns: no AC and has a gas furnace. The gas furnace is new, has not been run yet. It has a new Mastercool cooler and 2 window air conditioners. 1) I have used swamp coolers and like them, have not used mine in 2 years because it draws in the pollution. Should the air in Tucson become as bad as Phoenix in a few years, then I could not use the cooler. Does anyone know if I would have the pollution coming in by using window ACs? I have been okay here running my central AC-- no problem with pollution coming in as I can tell. 2) Furnace- I thought I read something about newer gas furnaces, can't remember what it said, but it seemed the newer ones are better as far as MCSrs go. Has anyone here had an old and new gas furnace and noticed a difference as far as reaction to them? I don't think I should run a space heater in a mobile home, afraid of a fire. So sick of MCS, yadda, yadda, yadda........Corky
Guest guest
Corky,  I don't know if any of the following will be helpful for you. I'm pretty out of it right now, so fogrive if I've not addressed this in a more helpful way. I know this isn't exactly what you are asking about, but maybe it will be helpful/  I have never lived in AZ, but have heard second hand from two people, that the air quality in San Pedro is very good. Also, as far as trailers, the best type that Ive seen up close and personal are air streams. I have friends in AZ that own one and use it to travel. They've been out my way a few times and I'v e found it to be excellent. They did have to do a certain amount to clean it out and have an air filter on all the time, a health mate junior.  Sam Hi, I live in Phoenix, pollution bad here-- headaches, eyes, mouth, throat burning, irritated lungs just about every day.
