Spending Money

Hi,

I am NT. For 20 years I have pretty much always had to live from paycheck to paycheck and also be responcible for the budget. I was determined not to be in debt. (Mom taught me to be very practicle) I am very careful not to overspend. When I was caring for the money and bills I always wrote checks put them in the register and kept track, then balanced my checkbook monthly. I hate overdrafts.

But, now for the last 7 years, AS hubby "needs to" keep track of everything online. The checkbook is seldom used, never recorded. We usually use debit. It drives me nuts.

My way of coping is to often ask him for bank balances. I also give him every reciept as soon as I get home from shopping. I either put the reciept in my pocket or a special place in my purse. If he is not around I put it next to his laptop. He can see exactly what I bought. If there is a problem then we can discuss it.

He totally seems to trust me and never questions what I buy. I usually estimate in my head as I am shopping how much I am spending rounding up to keep in budget and then seldom check the price when paying. (Wierd I know.)If I have to estimate to him I say about $? almost always rounding up.

This is the best I have come up with for spending money and accounting for it. It works if I keep on top of it.
