Guest guest
Well, the wonderful contractor came today and removed my cabinets and counter and the bottom section of sheetrock in my kitchen. We found a large piece of insulation that was black and moldy. He concluded that the sink (right above that spot) was not sealed well (its been 20 years so it figures) and water was getting in. He tested the A/C for leaks and the window too but we found no water getting in. I am thrilled and confused. Has the mold been there a long time? Was it just starting? The sheetrock all around was clean except for one or two slight water marks that had not turned into mold yet. I assume I reacted to it because I am coming off of a terrible period of exposures that have really weakened me. Needless to say, I am replacing both insulation and sheetrock. I won't do it for about a week, after considerable cleaning of area and waiting to see how I react. PS the contractor is wonderful because he chopped $200 off his quote because he didn't have to remove the whole wall! How amazing is that! I saved money and found the mold too!!!! Happy New Year! I'm feeling good right now!
