Guest guest
Hi , I found the article, the link didn't work but found it the hard way. The author is the same guy who wrote Symphony in the brain and it looks like he included this article in his book. Have you tried Biofeedback? Although I feel that it could be effective for seizures it was not the case for Maya our daughter. We did see some cognitive gains and behaviorial gains but it is a long road. >Hi Listmates, >I just posted a message on Biofeedback and the Weblink got messed up. >Here is another try: >Here is a good article on Biofeedback from Psychology Today > >Biofeedback (Neurofeedback) > >http://www.findarticles.com/cf_0/m1175/n3_v31/20526118/p1/article.jhtm >l?term=biofeedback > >Take Care, > Myers > > >_ > >
Guest guest
Dear & Maya, At the present time I have not looked into Biofeedback, but I may later on. It seems that in the last couple of years I have seen it pop-up quite frequently. I am, however on Pheno-Barb and Dilantin, which I have been on for over "30" years. Nevertheless, in just the last couple of years I have read of many people who have gotten off their medication by changing their diet. Some, mostly younger folks, have had postive results with the "Ketogenic Diet." Others have had postive results with fresh fruits, fresh raw vegetables, whole grains, fish, poultry, Vitamin B-Complex and Taurine. I tried the "Ketogenic Diet," and after a month it left me feeling so lethargic that I didn't even have enough energy to throw a stick at a snake. About "2" months ago I started a diet consisting of fresh fruits, fresh raw vegetables, whole grains, fish, poultry, the Vitamin B-Complex and Taurine and I feel great. My next step is to see a doctor and get off the medication. Actually , since Epilepsy is a "Symptom," of a problem - trying to find the problem can be a chore. In Message #2363 I noticed that some people run into problems drinking too much Water, while others find that if they drink more Water, it benefits them. I have also read where people have been "Cured," by spacing a half-hour to an hour distance between eating and drinking. Both my wife and I spend an inordinate amount of time reading and researching everything that we can get our hands on to find what will work. In conclusion, it is my sincere prayer that you and your wife find out what the cause of Maya's problem is and that she will be "Cured," Forever. Take Care, Myers wakiza21@... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Re: [ ] Re: Biofeedback Hi ,I found the article, the link didn't work but found it the hard way. Guest guest
When I was referring to " stress " , I was specifically addressing the type that comes from mental and emotional sources. We can churn our stomach since the digestive tract is PART OF THE BRAIN. We can create diarrhea or vomiting with our thoughts, we can make digestion stop, we can prevent our gall bladder from emptying, we can make a nasty case of acid reflux. There is almost as much nervous tissue in the gut as in the brain in the skull. Thoughts can cause the adrenal glands to squirt adrenaline (epinepherine) like mad. Chronic " stressful " thoughts can lead to adrenal exhaustion, a virtual lack of the beneficial natural body cortisone that wonderful substance that puts out pain and inflammation all over the body. When I was touring Kathy Deboer's school, A Chance to Grow, I watched them helping youngsters with BIOFEEDBACK. Within minutes they could hook up a child to the machine and teach them to generate the ALPHA WAVES in the brain. These are the waves that create the feeling of calmness, serenity and the same state that high level spiritual gurus achieve after years of meditation. The children in one popular program can watch a TV monitor and will see a cute little monkey climbing a vine and making satisfying and funny monkey sounds when they generate the right brain waves. After a few sessions the child can generate alpha states without being hooked up to the machine. Neat, huh? This teaches the brain to listen to the body, teaches the brain how to calm and soothe the body. Will Winter
Guest guest
Dear Crystal, I took it years ago for stress. I was able to learn breathing techniques and push away stressful thoughts to relax. Nan >Has anyone had biofeedback done? I had it done awhile back and I felt like it was pretty amazing. It was able to pick up on health issues I had that I said nothing out loud or expressed in written form to my practitioner. Crystal
Guest guest
Do you think that biofeedback could be helpful for those of us who can't feel when our muscles are contracting? Like if an electrode were placed on a certain muscle for example, and if a tone sounded only when the electrical signals were adequate? Do you think it could lead to an increase in muscle memory in the area, or be no help at all?
Guest guest
Great news to hear you're feeling better. Would you mind sharing with us more detailed information about the biofeedback process? Was the doctor that performed the session Lyme Literate?
