See a good neurologist if you are thinking it might be something else. Also

remember, everyone's symptoms with CMT or other neurological disorders are

different in what their symptoms are. Just because they are different from your

mom's does not mean you do not have CMT. A machine that can differentiate

between what disorder you have is called an EMG device. It measures nerve

conduction and how well and how fast the nerves can send electrical signals.

Just to make it clear, genetic testing is not needed to qualify for SSDI. Just

a diagnosis written by your doctor and your daily activities that are affected.
