I've slowly shifted to glass and metal when possible (desk, container store drawers) and I'm using plastic filing drawers and poly file folders. Things that can be wiped down. But I can't throw out paper for projects I'm working on. Whatever you bring, try to find a way to wash it after you take it out of the old house and before you put it in the new house. Plain water seems to be fine. It still will be contaminated with the mycotoxins, but if you wash the spores off it won't contaminate. (Much anyway.) Papers are a challenge because they can't be washed. If your current house is really bad, copying them might be worth it. The most important thing is to have your bedroom be good. I wouldn't put anything at all from the old house in there. The real challenge is finding a house that's really good in terms of mold. It seems like most people move into new homes that, while better than their old place, aren't good enough for them to feel much better. In that case, not bringing in spores from the old place won't make a huge amount of difference. See if you can charm your way into sleeping in any new place before commit to a purchase or a lease, then see how you feel. That will give you a much better idea what it's going to be like for you than if you just pay a short visit. Best,
Guest guest
Dana I think moving is definitely worth it and would be a major improvement even with the cross-contamination issue. I do not suffer from small amounts of cross-contamination that I can tell so I may not be the best one to say, but if you are away from the source of the WDB and all you have is some spores you took with you on stuff that will eventually go away, wash away, etc then you are in 100% better shape from my perspective. I know that it would do the trick for me and I am certainly hoping to move myself and will be taking all of my things with me. anita ---From: Dana S Hi there, im currently staying w my mum in a mouldy house... I moved here after getting sick in my old house and staying in many other mouldy houses. She and i both very sick... Cirs-wdb, lots of nasty auto immune stuff going on. She unwilling and unable to go live in a tent and throw her stuff behind, just not going to happen. This house is really messed up, i can smell a rotting smell after rain. Very bad. The car also contaminated in the ac, get reactions there too. I cant be in any other room but my own for too long. I do get symptoms in my own room but they are lesser.... I get worse all the time though... Was wondering whether moving would provide much benefit at all. Would it slow things down? How quickly do things cross contaminate? Surely living in a mould free house would still be better than mouldy despite cross contamination and her bringing clothing etc from this house. She would probably keep car. I know this probably all silly questions and me clutching at straws yet again. Just wondering though since my room gives me less symptoms and ive been sleeping in here 6 weeks now, still the cross contamination is lesser than other areas of the house.. Dont want to go through moving if the benefit is very minimal as its costly on many levels, also finding a suitable house thats safe mcs wise proving v difficult... At same time hate sitting around watching things get worse...
Guest guest
Thanks Anita, unfort i do react to small amounts from cross contamination. I hope you can move very soon and i dont know how sick you are but hope you are at least cleaning any objects that you take with you, discarding porous items, esp bedding etc. Wishing you the best of luck. ----- Sent from mBox Mail on my iPad http://www.fluentfactory.com/mboxmail ________________________ On 2011-02-22 10:06:45 +1100 anita paulsen <apami@...> wrote: > > Dana > > I think moving is definitely worth it and would be a major improvement even > with the cross-contamination issue. Guest guest
Hi Anita, I do hope you take Dana's advice into account. A small amount of spores is about 10,000 spores per sq inch. or so. I have also heard that your body then adjust to the low level contamination and fools you to think you are OK while you are then suffering from prolonged low level exposure. Please take all of this into consideration before taking your all things with you God Bless !! dragonflymcs Mayleen ________________________________ From: anita paulsen <apami@...> Sent: Mon, February 21, 2011 4:53:48 PM Subject: Re: [] Moving Dana I think moving is definitely worth it and would be a major improvement even with the cross-contamination issue. Guest guest
Hi Mayleen, I actually have been thinking about it and if it were not for how incredibly disabled I am with very little exertion possible I would wash/wipe everything, but I just don't think it's possible for me to do. I don't have someone who can do it for me, but I will try to do what I can as able. I do know that when I get away from mold I improve a lot, even if I am still using the same blankets. Not that they shouldn't be washed and then it would be even better, but at least things really improve for me. anita ---From: dragonflymcs Hi Anita, I do hope you take Dana's advice into account. Guest guest
Hi Anita, that is exactly what I am talking about you body fooling you into improvement only to continue to low level exposure anyways Your body will adapt to the lower level exposure. I could never myself do that. re-exposure brings on also quicker sicker but that is all up to you to decide and I understand very sick to do things. I am sorry you are not well. Just trying to make sure you understand that. I know someone who did but only to adapt and get worse later.
