Guest guest
Doug and All, Mulvey son and I met Brockavich in DC at the anniversary cocktail party for the Government Accountability Project. GAP. was the keynote speaker. She did a beautiful job and was inspirational. and I spoke to her for quite awhile. However, she ultimately did nothing to assist with the matter. I am aware that she did write a letter for a member of this board at one point. I believe it helped. I make no judgment of Brockavich. But I do know that she is a frequent paid speaker on the issue of whistleblowing. She lends her name to issues where there is financial support involved. God knows there are enough wrongs that seem to be able to muster this. I guess my point is: may or may not be of assistance to individual mold victims. But I certainly would not contact her under the misperception that she will champion this cause. Sharon In a message dated 11/21/2009 1:58:22 P.M. Guest guest
ALL: I met Brockovich and her attorney at the California committee hearing on SB-732 (the infamous Senator Deborah Ortiz' " Mold Bill " ). She testified, and her testimony seemed pointless and worthless. She spoke of her own problem and knew virtually nothing at all about mold contaminations/infestations or even particulates and human health. In other words, she came in with baseless scientific testimony. The only thing I observed at that time was that politicians love to be entertained by famous celebrities, " and everything else is just fiction. " At that time I provided both she and her attorney a copy of my book, " Toxic Mold! Toxic Enemy! " The only thank you I received for my effort was one big fat nothing. I was hoping that they both would jump on board; cease thinking only of, and building upon, their own celebrity status and actually begin doing something for the real celebrities the thousands of totally demoralized " mold victims " of this land. No luck! Please, don't post anythinhg or even mention Brockovich on this incredibly important " Sickbuildings " board again unless she really has a change of heart and soul and starts to do something of substance to rectify a great wrong in this nation. I am totally fed up with people who pretend to assist others only to posture themselves for greater personal gain. Many of you used to read a great deal of my comments and documentation supplied on this very informative and vitally instrumental board. However, I have removed myself from most litigation activity which spoke to the factual scientific medical, biologic, chemical, ecological, genetic, organic, and physics of fungal properties and human exposures, because of two things: 1) the greed and ineptness of attorneys, and 2) the fact that until our political leaders step up to the plate and actually lead instead of virtually hide concerning the deadly consequences of microfungi activity and content in American products from foods, to perfumes, cleaning products, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, and literally thousands of other products on the market including building and construction materials, we as citizens are going to continue to be victimized without any foreseeable legal representation. Today the Molecular Sciences are so far removed from current Medical Sciences that medical doctors are virtually clueless as to what molds are and what damages they cause internally to humans. They have virtually little or no medical schooling on the bio-contaminate and associative pathogenic ecological activites of these microscopic creatures that are physically, structurally, genetically, and organically closest to human cells than any other microbes on earth, and yet they are allowed to practice " auto-mechanic " methods with assorted medicines on us, while charging high prices for this practice. So who do we on " Sickbuildings " turn to for help. Non-scientist, Brockovich! We have the talents of true scientists such as Dr. Thrasher and several others. We have many untapped resources such as scientists currently studying the Molecular Sciences in genetics, immunology, mycotoxicology, environmental sciences, botany, and other fields at major universities who have yet to contribute. Let's start researching them. Want help? You have to go to the appropriate sources to find and obtain it. And, yes I am still heavily involved in medical mycology research, however I am no longer interested in working with litigation as either a consultant or especially in an expert capacity. I have had three major cases that I spoke of in the Sacramento area, and in each major case, the " politics " have overwhelmingly quashed public awareness and/or the case itself. Sickening to say the least, what politics and lack of media attention will do to control and harm a community. Thanks television news Channel 10, Channel 40, Channel 13, Channel 58, and others in the Sacramento area, FOR NOTHING! You could have saved many elderly from health complications and possibly death by mold. However, you all chose to turn the other way, believing that lighter stories you could joyfully discuss and joke about were far more important than reporting vitally important news to your community. You chose to report and google over the Brockovichs' of the world, rather than explain and study the sciences which could save lives. Welcome to America. God Bless and take care. Postscript: I do love this Country as I fought for it, but I do not love what I have experienced in it over the past few years. That is specifically what my response above is concerned with. Guest guest
Sharon: Though I respect all that you have committed yourself to regarding mold victims, I must part ways with your attributes toward Ms. Brockovich. If you leave one person behind and receive funding for speeches dedicated to your own interests, in my way of thinking, you are not helping anyone but yourself. It is one thing to be " inspirational " and another to be " dedicated. " I have not observed any dedication to victims of mold by Ms. Brockovich, and my personal feeling as to this person is that we are wasting our time. As you know, I value my own time, and do not like to waste any of it on a person I find little respect for in specific regard to microfungi exposures and exposed victims. So much for my comments on Ms. Brockovich and let's concentrate and place our support behind those who are dedicated, such as you are, and bless their work also, KC and friends. Again, God Bless you and your efforts. Your friend, Doug Haney _Haney52@... >> From: snk1955@... Guest guest
I totally agree Doug... Only by my own observations in the years I have been here.  Chris... Guest guest
As Sharon stated, we did have the chance to speak at length with in DC and it truly was great having the opportunity to talk with her about activism on health issues. What I took out of our discussions was that she firmly believed that when courageous people decide to take a stand on an issue of importance, they should try very hard not to be pulled in a multitude of directions and stay focused. She has spent quite a bit of her time on the chromium 6 exposure issue and has been quite effective bringing this issue to the forefront. I was at a meeting this past week in Boston sponsored by MassCOSH (Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Safety and Health). The Town Hall Meeting forum featured Acting Assistant Secretary of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Jordan Barab who addressed worker safety questions. One of the major problems he raised was how woefully behind the federal government is with their chemical exposure list; an issue that hopefully will be addressed when the permanent appointments are made in the Federal Department of Labor. And, yes, I did speak with him about mold exposure annd illness and hopefully a door is now opened to get this issue before OSHA in a new and meaningful way. So to make a long story short, I personally have no axe to grind with even though she suffered through her own mold exposure problems. She is trying to raise awareness of the dangers of chemical exposure and we are on another path. The bottom line is with us all working together, perhaps some day all things that can harm people's health will be recognized and changes can occur. Guest guest
That was well put, . Although I wish that or someone with the ability to intelligently raise media attention would champion this issue, I find no fault that she has not done this. Unlike the elected officials who I feel have not done their jobs on this one, is not in that position. There are many societal ills that I personally feel need to be corrected. But you can't champion them all. I think is in that same boat. Besides...I have been to DC with a celebrity who spoke out over this issue, Bianca Jaggar. I did not find it to be a worthwhile experience as she was unable to articulate anything of relevance other than how the matter has adversely impacted her own life. (she was very sick at the time) It is a complex issue. I think that sometimes movie stars can do more harm than good. With that said, Bullock or Ted Nuggent would be the most relevant, I think, if one were intending to go that direction. Sharon In a message dated 11/22/2009 6:37:48 A.M. Guest guest
Just a thought on Brockavich subject (excuse me Doug), but due to the litigation she has been successfully involved in, could insurance company or builder settle with her a good sum in exchange for not taking on the issue or talking about her own experience with mold damaged home, given the audience she would have. I say this because I was involved in a law suit against a brokerage firm for churning the brokerage account of an elderly relative. In exchange for the settlement, we were asked to sign a 'silence' statement, that we would not discuss action against the broker or settlement that was made. I didn't want to sign it but was advised by my lawyers to do so, because it would be best for me financially, and to go further would not increase the settlement but just creat more legal fees, so I settled. Result was that broker's record was unblemished which bothered me but I was paying for advise and I took it, got the settlement. Do you think Brockavich could have been tempted to accept a good sum to clean up her own mess in exchange for her silence on topic. We know what big bucks mold damage can creat. Not that that makes it okay but perhaps an explanation for seeming indifference to this issue. Her attitude is surprising given she experienced a moldy home problem herself. > > Doug and All, > > Mulvey son and I met Brockavich in DC at the anniversary > cocktail party for the Government Accountability Project.
