Guest guest
Hi - my name is Ray and I am new to your group. I was given a dx of CMT 2 about 6-7 years ago and it really has had a huge impact on my life. After a couple of years of traditional and DNA testing, I am 99% confident with the dx that I was given but there will always be that 1% that will continue to haunt me since the dx is clinical. My balance is terrible, I feel clumsy all the time and the pain and cold feet are killing me. Sometimes, the weight of the blanket on my bed is excruciating at night along with the cramping. I found out about 2 weeks ago that it's spreading to my hands and arms - that's really bringing me down. It's also having an impact on my self-esteem and sometimes it's a little embarrassing - stumbling around, using a cane and generally feeling like a freak. My wife told me about your group so I thought that I could join to get some practical advice on how to deal with the condition (tips & tricks) and how to deal with it emotionally. It's not fair to my family for me to keep bringing my issues home to them so it would be nice to share with others like me. I hope that nothing I wrote offended anyone here - it's just my own opinion about myself these days. To sum it all up, it really sucks and I can't help but feel that I must have done something to cause it - like bad karma or maybe one cigarette too many. I will end my message here since I could probably go on like this for a few hours. Thank you all for listening. Ray
