Guest guest
The dog is a victim too. I would have him shaved and wash him as you will wash yourself. Protect him with a dog sweater until his fur grows back in. After it grows out enough, you may want to have him shaved a second time. If there is a friend who would keep him awhile, that might be helpful but friends' house may be too moldy too. > > I've decided to go ahead and move into an extended stay hotel for the next month or so, get rid of all my clothes and buy some more but what do I do about my 4 month tea cup terrier? The hotel says that I can take him with me but what about the possibility of mold spores attaching to his hair? I can give him a bath in the hotel room but what about the possibility of contaminating the hotel room before I get him in the tub? > > I am so tired of having this constant headache, the itchy skin and the irritated eyes and I want to do this right. Guest guest
...well clarification, fur clipped short, not shaved really, as you could easily nick his skin. Clipped short, you should be able to wash him well, afterall, you will still have your hair with you. > > The dog is a victim too. I would have him shaved and wash him as you will wash yourself. Guest guest
why do you need to shave the dog anymore than you would shave yourself, I don't understand why bathing the dog isn't enuf? sue >The dog is a victim too. Guest guest
Okay, rereading this, if you are worried about the time you bring dog in to hotel room but before you bath them, take him to a pet grooming shop and then to hotel. After you get to hotel, you can bathe him again if you are still worried. > > I've decided to go ahead and move into an extended stay hotel for the next month or so, get rid of all my clothes and buy some more but what do I do about my 4 month tea cup terrier? Guest guest
I was reading the post as being concerned that the dog has fur all over his body. Some people practicing extreme avoidance do shave their heads since hair is not cleaned as easily as skin. Lathering up skin will cause you to shed a layer of skin but hair doesn't do that. Some people have get rid of pets due to just allergies. > >> > >> I've decided to go ahead and move into an extended stay hotel for the > >next month or so, get rid of all my clothes and buy some more but what > >do I do about my 4 month tea cup terrier? Guest guest
If you have dog shampooed, you might consider Dawn. They have used that on wildlife. Pet shampooer said it was good and it's a degreaser. Since mycotoxins are fat soluable, may be better at stripping oil and substances stuck on oil but I haven't heard it damages coat in any way. > > I've decided to go ahead and move into an extended stay hotel for the next month or so, get rid of all my clothes and buy some more but what do I do about my 4 month tea cup terrier? Guest guest
give the dog a bath on the way to the hotel somewhere. should be good after that. the spores that are on the dog shuold be gone with a good scrub and bath. Guest guest
I don't think its the spores that are a concern. It' the mycotoxins. They don't wash off easily. > > give the dog a bath on the way to the hotel somewhere. should be good after that. the spores that are on the dog shuold be gone with a good scrub and bath. >
Guest guest
So than what would you suggest? > > > > give the dog a bath on the way to the hotel somewhere. should be good after that. the spores that are on the dog shuold be gone with a good scrub and bath. > > >
Guest guest
What I already said. I'm just saying to photo guy that it isn't the spores that are hard to get rid of, it's the mycotoxins. I think that is the challenge with cross contamination. I suggested trim dog and shampooo at groomer before going to hotel, maybe ask groomer to use Dawn..others may have better ideas, then take to hotel and if you are still concerned, shampoo again once you are there. Maybe when fur grows out a little, trim again and shampoo. What do others think? > > > > > > give the dog a bath on the way to the hotel somewhere. should be good after that. the spores that are on the dog shuold be gone with a good scrub and bath. > > > > > >
Guest guest
I found that useing dawn dish soap ( which cuts grease pretty well) and a small amount of ammonia and hot water saved some of my belongings. can't say it would work for dogs. but people have said they put ammonia in their bath water. I would talk to a vet. wasn't dawn dish soap used to clean birds that were involved in oil spills ? maybe skip the ammonia and try the dawn. ?? I also was one that saved some of my cloths, blankets, ect. by washing them with ammonia and dawn. took a couple of washings. I had to hold a wet washrag over my nose and get the cap back on quick but after you get it watered down it didn't bother as much and after the cloths were dry they didn't bother me anymore. now I had already washed them several times after getting out of the moldy house but didn't realize than that I had also became reactive to other chemicals/scents, like with most cloths detergents, drier sheets, ect. but the ammonia took away those smells to. I also used a spray bottle with -1/4 ammonia,+3/4th's water a few times to just settle whatever was in the air that was bugging me. kind of like a rain cleans the air outside. but some say they dont tolerate ammonia. ? > > > > > > give the dog a bath on the way to the hotel somewhere. should be good after that. the spores that are on the dog shuold be gone with a good scrub and bath. > > > > > >
