Guest guest
To Whomever It May Concern: When I began to read your article: " Do vaccines cause autism? " by Jurry Taalib-Deen, The Toledo Journal, originally posted 8/20/2008, I hoped that it would accurately report the facts and address the issues. However, the article was disappointing because it contained little accurate reporting of factual information and consistently provided the views of the typical vaccine apologist with " facts " that were obvious distortions of reality. Factually, in the recent Poling case (Hannah Poling v. Sec. HHS; Vaccine Injury Compensation US Court of Federal Claims 02-v-01466), medical professionals in the US Department of Health and Human Servicces (HHS) conceded that vaccinations caused Hanah Poling's autism diagnosis since the " autism " is defined by the " symptoms of autism " BEFORE the Poling case could be heard as a PRIMARY test case for the theory " Thimerosal in vaccines causes autism " . Thus, the government has conceded that vaccinations (the giving of vaccines) can cause autism. Based on the Poling decision and the still " concealed " medical records and the expert reports associated with this case, the answer to the article's title question: " Do vaccines cause autism? " is clearly: " Yes, in some cases! With respect to the article's: " So where did this recent resurgence originate? " , the writer knits together a fairy tale composed of snipets of fact and falsity concerning The Lancet, Dr. Wakefield, Thimerosal, the MMR vaccine, and " autism " . Actually, there has been no " resurgence " . Factually, Dr. Wakefield did NOT, for example, " theorize thimerosal, a form of mercury that was once used in vaccines, was the cause " . In actuality, " Ten of the 13 authors on the original study " DID NOT PULL " their names because they acknowledged that there were many flaws during the study " -- SIX YEARS after the original article: Wakefield AJ, Murch SH, A, Linnell J, Casson DM, Malik M, Berelowitz M, Dhillon AP, Thomson MA, Harvey P, Valentine A, Davies SE, - JA. Ileal- lymphoid-nodular hyperplasia, non-specific colitis, and pervasive developmental disorder in children. Lancet. 1998 Feb 28; 351(9103): 637-41. was published, 10 of 13 authors, all of whom were under pressure from a UK medical review board, published the following article in The Lancet: Murch SH, A, Casson DH, Malik M, Berelowitz M, Dhillon AP, Thomson MA, Valentine A, Davies SE, - JA. Retraction of an interpretation. Lancet. 2004 Mar 6; 363 (9411): 750, which ONLY " retracted " the intrepretation of the study and NOT the validity of: a) the study or its findings. Factually, until today, August 21, 2008: 1. Thimerosal CONTINUES to be used as a process sterilant and preservative in some US-licensed vaccine formulations. See: http://www.fda.gov/cber/vaccine/thimerosal.htm#t3. 2. The US FDA has continued to approve NEW vaccine formulations that are Thimerosal- preserved, including CSL Limited's 2008-2009 Afluria multidose formulation, ID Biomedical Corporation of Quebec's 2008-2009 FluLaval, Sanofi Pasteur, Inc's 2008-2009 Fluzone multidose formulation, and Sanofi Pasteur Inc's Influenza Virus Vaccine, H5N1. 3. In addition, the FDA has continued to license 13 other Thimerosal-preserved and/or Thimerosal- containing vaccine formultations. 4. The US FDA has refused to revoke the licenses of the Thimerosal-preserved formulations when a reduced-Thimerosal formulation was licensed. 5. The US FDA has refused to revoke the licenses of the Thimerosal-preserved and the reduced- Thimerosal formulations when the " no Thimerosal " formulation was approved. 6. WITHOUT PROOF of safety and effectiveness, the US CDC added Thimerosal-preserved flu vaccines to the vaccination schedule for children as young as 6 months and pregnant women in 2002. The rest of the article seems to be more of an " infomercial " for the American Academy of Pediatrics and pediatricians than an article to provide helpful factual information about vaccines and vaccination for your readers who are parents facing the need to make truly informed choices about their children's health care. IF any of you are truly interested in the facts, THEN, please check the references cited and read: " A Review of: 'Vaccine safety: genuine concern or a legacy of unfounded skepticism.' Expert Reviews of Vaccines 2008; 7(3): 275-277. Chatterjee A. " article, Jurry Taalib-Deen. Hopefully, this information has, at least, provided you with some insight into the facts about the connection between " vaccines " and " neurodevelopmental disorders " , including " autism " . ******************************************* *The information provided in this email * *and any attachment thereto is just that * * -- information. * * * *It is not medical advice and it does not * *require any specific action or actions. * * * *While the information is thought to be * *accurate, no representation is made as * *to the accuracy of the information posted* *other than it is my best understanding of* *the facts on the date that this email and* *any attachments thereto are posted. * * * *Everyone should verify the accuracy of * *the information provided for themselves * *before acting on it. * ******************************************* Respectfully, Dr. King http://www.dr-king.com ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
