Guest guest
Who is Palin? Here's some basic background: She was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.1 Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2 She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3 Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4 She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.5 She's solidly in line with McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.6 How closely did McCain vet this choice? He met Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.7 We also asked Alaskan' what the rest of us should know about their governor. The response was striking. Here's sample: She is really just a mayor from a small town outside Anchorage who has been a governor for only 1.5 years, and has ZERO national and international experience. I shudder to think that she could be the person taking that 3AM call on the White House hotline, and the one who could potentially be charged with leading the US in the volatile international scene that exists today. —Rose M., Fairbanks, AK She is VERY, VERY conservative, and far from perfect. She's a hunter and fisherwoman, but votes against the environment again and again. She ran on ethics reform, but is currently under investigation for several charges involving hiring and firing of state officials. She has NO experience beyond Alaska. — B., Denali Park, AK As an Alaskan and a feminist, I am beyond words at this announcement. Palin is not a feminist, and she is not the reformer she claims to be. — L., Anchorage, AK Alaskans, collectively, are just as stunned as the rest of the nation. She is doing well running our State, but is totally inexperienced on the national level, and very much unequipped to run the nation, if it came to that. She is as far right as one can get, which has already been communicated on the news. In our office of thirty employees (dems, republicans, and nonpartisans), not one person feels she is ready for the V.P. position.—Sherry C., Anchorage, AK She's vehemently anti-choice and doesn't care about protecting our natural resources, even though she has worked as a fisherman. McCain chose her to pick up the Hillary voters, but Palin is no Hillary. —Marina L., Juneau, AK I think she's far too inexperienced to be in this position. I'm all for a woman in the White House, but not one who hasn't done anything to deserve it. There are far many other women who have worked their way up and have much more experience that would have been better choices. This is a patronizing decision on McCain's part- and insulting to females everywhere that he would assume he'll get our vote by putting "A Woman" in that position.— M., Anchorage, AK So Governor Palin is a staunch anti-choice religious conservative. She's a global warming denier who shares McCain's commitment to Big Oil. And she's dramatically inexperienced. In picking Palin, McCain has made the religious right very happy. And he's made a very dangerous decision for our country. Sources: 1. " Palin," Wikipedia, Accessed August 29, 2008 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/_Palin 2. Guest guest
If we are going to post this kind of stuff, I have a lot of Obama the Mesiah, Muslim, anti-American, terrorist friendly, black supremist articles I could easily enough locate with a simple Google search and share as well. They would be every bit as truthful as this article! BTW, McCain's been considering Palin for months. I heard her name as a possibility several weeks ago and looked her up then. Guest guest
---Lin I agree titally. We dont need bin laden or reverand white in the white house. It is a no brainer that a woman who is a mother of a child with a disabilities will do best for children with disabilities..besides women can multi task[sorry guys but when we leave you with the kids the house is a mess, there is no dinner, and the laundry is still not done........] In EOHarm , " Lin Wessels " wrote: > > > If we are going to post this kind of stuff, I have a lot of Obama the > Mesiah, Muslim, anti-American, terrorist friendly, black supremist > articles I could easily enough locate with a simple Google search and > share as well. Guest guest
Sammy, I beg to differ in a big way. My husband has been the main chef around our house for years! And he is damn good at it! I was OK at looking after the kiddies in diapers, but at the same time, I was thankful for my partner in crime for being able to get a decent meal to the table, when I was tied up at work. He has been looking after that thankless part for years,...and unfortunately, we have not thanked him enough! Arghh! Thanks for reminding me, Aasa>> > If we are going to post this kind of stuff, I have a lot of Obama the> Mesiah, Muslim, anti-American, terrorist friendly, black supremist> articles I could easily enough locate with a simple Google search and> share as well. Guest guest
I've been gone for over a week and this is my first time checking my e-mails. Unfortunately I'm not with other families who are as obsessed with the political picture as I am and just got to see a piece of her speech today and get a tiny history. I'm a lefty, but I thought this was a strong choice for McCain. Totally unexpected and not from a supposed short list. From what I saw she's going to really strike some cords with people and I think may be a good choice for gathering McCain the conservative base. This is a race that is going to be much closer than most expected including myself. Thanks to Lin we have a very good standing with McCain and hopefully we can see early how Palin might vote or lean towards where our most important issues are concerned. Anyone from this list from Alaska? -
Guest guest
Hi Lin - you are absolutely correct. I read about Palin months back when her name was put on the "short list" for possible VP picks. That's about the time I read about her giving birth to her son with Downs Syndrome. Guest guest
Catty to disagree with her personal choices in life, but perfectly reasonable and legitimate to disagree with her politics that could, in the end, affect all of us. That's why we have an opportunity to check out her past record and go from there. Although all things can change, if you look at the role of vice presidents from an historical viewpoint(with perhaps the exception of our present one who actually IS big corporation) they have played a very minor role in the whole picture. But of course, should something happen to the preseident-you have a different picture. Happy Labor Day. Many years ago I gave birth on Labor Day. What could be more appropriate.? Guest guest
I do not think this was a strange choice, Shes from the state that has all the remaining oil, ( enough for a little over 12 months at Americas current rate of consumption. ) AND get this , she does not believe in global climate change WTH!!!. So This country is poised to vote for a 72 year old and some sidekick that knows where to drill and to appease her people and who has no regard for science!! ( OMG world !) My God America WAKE UP TO THE BIG PICTURE!!!! IT IS NOT ABOUT CHOICE IT IS ABOUT OIL nor about a woman or who stays at home . The media is keeping you off the real issues in this and every election. See what has happened to your children? , see what has happened to the planet? It is about corporate control of every area of your lives. They know how to throw you off the scent. . Guest guest
Ehh, the furor over this choice will dissipate pretty quickly. While she may temporarily whip the anti-choice, gun-lovin',anti- environment slackjaws into a frenzy, she won't steal any Obama supporters. People who are excited about her would've voted for McCain anyway Anyway, looking forward to Bush's convention speech on the anniversary of Katrina. Wonder if he'll play the guitar.... - > > I do not think this was a strange choice, Shes from the state that has all the remaining oil, ( enough for a little over 12 months at Americas current rate of consumption. ) AND get this , she does not believe in global climate change WTH!!!. > > So This country is poised to vote for a 72 year old and some sidekick that knows where to drill and to appease her people and who has no regard for science!! Guest guest
I think the problems that the WORLD faces are bigger than Autism and much more is at stake. Much as we know how bad Autism is, to vote for someone purely on their perceived stance on autism is a little naive . You know they are controlled by pharma and that Pharma will NOT be held accountable. The Oil and Energy issue is THE BIGGEST ISSUE for the WORLD and it all spins down from there. Guest guest
Great viewpoint! Do you think either of party candidates are going to tell us to spend less and grow your own food? This is exactly why I say what I do. The things you mention are the only things that are going help this country. But we know right now that NO republican or democrat will EVER lead American's in the direction of families buying less, driving less, growing our own foods, sharing with each other, use alternative medicine! Please in their minds those things would be an economic disaster! The people who have steered these candidates into position did so for a reason and it wasn't for " corporations " to lose money! This is why we need to separate ourselves from what the parties are saying and just do our own thing to fix this mess. Only then will a leader emerge who can make the big changes we need. > > > > I do not think this was a strange choice, Shes from the state that > has all the remaining oil, ( enough for a little over 12 months at > Americas current rate of consumption. ) AND get this , she does not > believe in global climate change WTH!!!. > > > > So This country is poised to vote for a 72 year old and some > sidekick that knows where to drill and to appease her people and who > has no regard for science!! Guest guest
It sounds so good on paper and I do agree with you. Unfortunately, it would be difficult to put into practice since the majority of Americans don't know the difference between Minneapolis and Indianapolis and cannot point out Asia on a map. Guest guest
--- sounds great but we still need to have cooperation from the bozo's. where you gonna get those seeds to grow your own food? Monsato has the seed market. You better buy all organic and hope you have time to let them properly dry and that they take. While your at it get your soil tested........what was done on your property before ou owned it? In EOHarm , " angndon1994 " wrote: > > Great viewpoint! Guest guest
--- no the general public doesnot know what a mess we are in. Most arent educated enough. This from mercolas website: The USDA has announced that they are putting 15 out of 30 federally accredited organic certifiers they audited on probation, allowing them 12 months to make corrections or lose their accreditation. At the heart of the problems were imported foods and ingredients from other countries, including China. Chinese imports have made headlines for contaminated pet food, toxic toys, and recently, certified organic ginger contaminated with levels of a pesticide called aldicarb that can cause nausea, headaches and blurred vision. The ginger, sold under the 365 label at Whole Foods Market, contained a level of aldicarb not even permissible for conventional ginger, let alone organics. The Chinese government does not allow foreigners to inspect Chinese farms, and even if a Chinese inspector notices illegal pesticide use, he or she might feel pressured to stay silent. See our gvt can't even stand up to china. They continually try to poison us[not that our own gvt isnt doing the same] and they still allow them to import thier crappy products. This country needs to stop imports, stop out sourcing and become self reliant. We need to become more Amish like. I know it is not conveient and know people are just too lazy to come together and try. They cant even be bothered to rise when countries like China are using bioterror on us,and our own CDC is experimenting on children and causing one in 6 to have a disability. Guest guest
---Yes I have seen those. I do not see any changes coming soon. unfortunately cash and the controll of money through pop controll is the main focus of the gvts world wide. I have no faith in any gvt to change this. Unfortunately it will take stats on 1in 1 to wake people up. They are lacking in morals and are too selfish. perfect example is the attitudes we have seen on various sites that are down right mean to our children[keep them home, dont let them out in public ect] Until everyones children are severely affected no-one will stand.
