Guest guest
I am not a " professional " but as far as I am concerned anything with yeast of any kind is off limits for me. Most likely if you are mold-sensitive, consuming any yeast product would not be wise. D > > Hi Jackie, > > When I clicked on the link, in your posting,to " natural-immune-system.com, I was surprised to find that your doctor's " immune-boosting " formulation included " Beta-glucans " . As I have come across this phrase, many times, as a possible " causative agent " of sick building system, it seemed a little illogical to be swallowing the stuff, about which, the website www.betaglucan.org, says the folowing: > > Poly-branched B-1,3-(D)-Glucans are naturally occurring polysaccharides, with or without B-1,6-(D)-glucose side chains, that are integral cell wall constituents in a variety of bacteria, plants and fungi. Glucan receptors to deliver non-self derived glucan to the immune response have been identified on macrophages, dendritic cells and other cells. The Beta-1,3-(D)-glucan with Beta- 1,6-glucan linkage extracted from yeast cell wall (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) has been shown to act as a potent non-specific immune-activator. > > I would appreciate some detailed scientific info, from our " professional " members, as to whether any one of us should be swallowing a product EXTRACTED FROM YEAST, for it's possible benefits as an immune-booster. > > Joe > ................................. >
Guest guest
I believe before this gets confused with " bad " yeast, it will be good to do a little of homework on it. Maybe you can't take the supplement but in all fairness, always do your own research before disputing a product. As I stated yesterday, being vinegar has mold and yeast in it, many can't tolerate it but there are many who have mold illness who praise distill vinegar for cleaning and apple cider vinegar for ingesting. Same goes for breads which are made with yeast. How about the mushrooms we enjoy on our pizzas? Any can goods will have a fair amount of yeast in them as well as fresh foods. We breath air daily with yeast and molds as well as bird feathers, yes, bird feathers! Ever been outside when a huge flock of crows passed over your head??? Do you think you can escape inhaling a few flakes of heathers? I would not throw the baby out with the bath until I done my own research. Knowledge is everything! Ignorance is based on disputing a subject which we know nothing about. Here are a few links to get one started: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta-glucan http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-1041-BETA+GLUCANS.aspx?\ \ activeIngredientId=1041 & activeIngredientName=BETA+GLUCANS & source=2 http://www.betaglucan.org
