Why are you going if your son is not allowed to go? No judgement here at all, it all comes down to what a person can handle and no one knows your family better than you. I'm the one that recently posted about my sibs giving my kids 'froot loops' cos they thought it was funny to mess with my 'opinions' on his health.

My brother got married last month and my ASD son was welcome in spite of his behaviour. I CHOSE to leave him home (for a fun weekend with his visiting Nana-she surprised us coming during this time). Oddly, I was harshly chastised for not bringing him. So...my family may be unsupportive and combative when it comes to my choice of 'therapy'....(sis thinks Risperdal is the answer LOL). They still were pissed at me for not letting him be part of it. In retrospect, I wish I had taken him (Nana could have 'crashed' the reception) but I never knew he was wanted until this happened and thought I was doing what would make everyone happiest - there was no pressure from anyone... On the flip side, I thought I was being polite and that NEVER should have crossed my mind - lesson learned. If they had ever told me to leave him home - I wouldn't have attended (this was well thought out for myself shortly after they got engaged, we ASD parents tend to plan

ahead).

So, you can go to this wedding and support your brother etc while your husband is pissed off and your child is pointedly left out, hopefully he doesn't know about it. Or you can do something else. I know it isn't easy. Just food for thought - maybe you can call in sick to the wedding. Family is complicated and harsh but I'm done with being nice. I may have a hell of a time with Froot Loops and Fruity Pebbles but at least my kids are a part of the family (yes I know the diet implications but I'm talking about actually being wanted which leaves some other doors open). I never knew how important that was until reading this post. I am so sorry that you are being forced to choose. Hmmm...what would happen if you went and took him anyway? You're on this group - you probably aren't that afraid to make a stand. But that's beside the point isn't it? You shouldn't have to choose.
