FluMist sprayer contains a single 0.2 mL dose. Each 0.2 mL dose

contains

106.5-7.5

FFU of live attenuated

influenza virus reassortants of each of the three strains: A/South

Dakota/6/2007 (H1N1) (A/Brisbane/59/2007-like), A/Uruguay/716/2007 (H3N2)

(A/Brisbane/10/2007-

like), and B/Florida/4/2006 [1]. Each 0.2 mL dose also contains 0.188

mg/dose monosodium glutamate,

2.00 mg/dose hydrolyzed porcine gelatin, 2.42 mg/dose arginine, 13.68

mg/dose sucrose,

2.26 mg/dose dibasic potassium phosphate, 0.96 mg/dose monosodium

phosphate, and

<0.015 mcg/mL gentamicin sulfate. FluMist contains no

preservatives.

I have received some " junk " mail twice from Med Immune recently,

advertising and promoting their product Flu Mist. There was an insert

inside that looked like a package insert, but was simply a " highlights

of prescribing information, " as it was missing some vital information

like a full list of ingredients. However, I found that they did have

a section on transmission and revealed that their own study showed

evidence of vaccine shedding in a daycare setting. The study showed

that one of the viruses in the vaccine [the A/Wisconsin/67/2005 (H3N2)

flu virus] had been shedded to non-vaccinated children.
