Guest guest
Hi all, further to what I've already written on this topic, I have discovered, unfortunately, that although " Grouply " supposedly gives list owners and moderators a " choice " about whether or not members will receive spam email, it proved to be ineffective. The other group I moderate was hit with a second round of spam email from Grouply, using a member's email address. Moderating the member has no effect as the emails are not sent to the list, but rather, individual member's mailboxes which " Grouply " harvested from that group's membership list. The messages are sent through the Yahoo server, but Yahoo can do nothing because the messages are not " from " Grouply, but rather " from " the member's email address. The ONLY action moderators can take is to permanently ban member email addresses that have been appropriated by Grouply. So far ASPIRES has not been hit, but I have heard from some of our members that they have received " invites " from members of other groups. So, it's only a matter of time. Remember, DO NOT JOIN GROUPLY and NEVER give out your Yahoo password to anyone. Yahoo would NEVER ask you to do this. - Helen
