Guest guest
Francine, Be careful.it can start off so small! I was married fifteen years..He loved to push me extra hard and watch me fall saying " you fell on purpose. I was beneath him.he also made me feel guilty many times and with many things.. I thought were my fault even when he cheated on me with one women after another. After all I was lucky that he even married me and was still with me.being I was disabled!.. one of my neighbors once told me. I told him lets spend more time to gather, just us! You never complement me any more.even a dog get a pat on the head ! Oh gosh, he started hitting me on the top of my head hard, I felt like I was going to pass out. He then said " there you go...Dog! " He took a big chunk out of me...and I wont let it happen to me ever again...Don't let any one make you feel less for having CMT or any disability..THEY AREN'T WORTH IT! People will ruin you life if you give them that power. I made excuses for him, many things went through my mind ,I had to small children and every one thought he was wonderful but didn't see the dark side. His abuse has affected fifty years of my life......I'm 67 and still get frightened. and this is just a small story of my life of his abuses. Geri i am so frustrated. i tell my partner about my balance issues and how i was made fun of as a kid and all that went with it; why does he not get my problem with balance is not my fault. i try to read to him about all our issues and i still feel it is my fault. francine
Guest guest
Recently, I have read huge amount of books about abuse. Emotional abuse hurts one's soul, that is, hurting the " Self " . Emotional abuse makes people feel bad about themselves. Verbal abuse also hurts a lot. This is not about CMT. This is about " respect " another human being. Set up your own healthy boundary to protect your own quality of life and your good feeling abour your self. If the abuses can' be stopped, leave the abusive person. This is the abusive person's problems, not our problems. Beverly Engel writes many books about abuse. You can take a look at her books. This is not about CMT. This is about " abuse " .
