Guest guest
Hello and welcome Matt. I had the tendon surgery in childhood, both feet at the same time and was in plaster casts up to the knees and no weight bearing. 6-8 weeks later I was walking in soft shoes (like ballet flats) and about week 12 was able to wear my school shoes. That is my one and only tendon surgery on the feet. My feet hurt when walking for awhile because, as my orthopedist said, my feet were changed and had to learn to walk with that change. Feet gradually got better (didn't miss school or any activities) Perhaps your doctor can refer you to an orthotist who can assess you for some custom orthotics for your heels. Sometime in the '90s I got orthotics and I only wish I'd had them sooner. Custom made, they give me the support and stability for a correct heel/toe strike. As for your back (I've been there too) consider a consult with a orthopedist who specializes in backs. The degenerative disks can be treated in different ways.
