Guest guest
According to their website... The number of work credits you need to qualify for disability benefits depends on your age when you become disabled. Also, the credits must have been earned within a certain time period. Generally, you need 20 credits earned in the last 10 years, ending with the year you become disabled. Younger workers may qualify with fewer credits. For example: * A worker who becomes disabled before age 24 needs to have earned six credits in the three-year period ending when disability starts. * A worker who becomes disabled between age 24 to age 31 needs to have credits for half the time between age 21 and the time disability starts. If disability starts at age 27, the worker would need credit for three years of work (12 credits)) out of the past six years between age 21 and age 27. It's all confusing so I suggest consulting an attorney who specializes in SSDI - you have nothing to lose. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of patandpaula Sent: Wednesday, August 06, 2008 5:14 PM Subject: Re: [ ] SSDI Does anyone know, to get ssdi, must you have worked in the past several years? Guest guest
That is great news, congradulations dear!!!!. I remember when i recieved my check the first one was 17,000.00 and then a couple for 5,000 and one for 8,500. Of course that was a few years ago and now we have two trucks and the rest we caught up for not having any money for the past four years i had fought for it. If you get denied, keep appealing until you get it. It is worth it. Blessings, Kris

Guest guest
Trust me, I'm sure that the state you live in makes a HUGE difference. When my husband and I adopted our daughters from India and we had to deal with the Immigration Department (a federal entity), our state (Wisconsin) was MUCH, MUCH slower than say Minnesota! So, I can only guess that the same would be said for SSDI, all depends on your state. Guest guest
I agree. I don't understand when I hear stories about people who are without-a-doubt disabled being denied. On the surface, I don't appear disabled. During the medical exam, the doctor had me walk across the examining room, touch my toes, put my arms over my head, etc. Nothing strenuous and I was able to perform everything without any strain. My hands didn't look too bad on the day of the exam - some days, my fingers are so swollen and inflamed that there's no doubt that I have RA. When I came home from the exam, I e-mailed the paralegal at my attorney's office and told her I was sure I would be denied. She replied that most people are on the first try and must appeal. So when I received the check yesterday, I was totally blown away. My SIL works for a doctor and said one of their patients had a number of brain surgeries and was turned down for disability! There is NO rhyme or reason to it. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of CLORA Sent: Thursday, August 07, 2008 6:34 AM Subject: [ ] Re: SSDI Group It took me 3 years. Guest guest
Heidi - you need an SSD Attorney - they will gather EVERYTHING SSD needs to review your case. You shouldn't have to deal with the stress of these doctor's offices. They're notorious for not getting stuff sent off like they should. Guest guest
Heidi, On the bright side, if your worker gets the info from your doctor, they usually cancel the CME doctor's appointment. Do you know if your doctor sent in his completed paperwork for your SSDI or just copies of your records? SSA actually needs either their paperwork completed, or a letter to SSA about your disability. Most doctors put a copy of the paperwork they complete for SSA in your files, so I would look for that. I was scheduled for to see one of SSA's doctors, they canceled it after they received my doctor's letter.
