Guest guest
hello all im 29 and was diagnosed with cmt last year..ive had " bad " feet my whole life and sprained my ankles alot as a teen..then into my mid 20s ive had alot of back pain, which i was diagnosed with degenerative disks from my abnormal gait....well the back dr saw my feet and that was the beginning of this journey.... I ended up having foot surgery this past april..they did a complete reconstruction of my left foot..osteotomies(heal and metatarsals), tibial tendon transfer, ankle ligament reconstruction and tendon release...all in one surgery...so its been over 6 months post-op and i think the tendon transfer did not take. my dr said to get an orthotic to get the foot in proper position and hopefully the neurons with start firing and the tendon with start " catching " ...well im wondering if anyone else has had this issue with a tendon transfer and what was done about it?. i still cant walk with out a shoe and still have to use a shower chair when showering cause i have no sensation on the bottom of my foot from the surgery....in addition i have really bad heel pain...i cant walk for more then 20 or 30 minutes with out the heal being really painful...the dr said structurally the foot looks great on the xrays...so i am not sure what im suppose to do. last visit he gave me a cortisone shot in the heal and that did not help at all...he doesnt seem too concerned about my heel issue as he is about the tendon not functioning.....so i was just wondering if anyone else thats had this type of surgeries have had any of these types of complications and how long did it take for you to regain complete function of the foot? also my back is probably worse now then before because of me limping around and wearing the inserts. any input would be helpful.
