Guest guest
I found this in wikipedia. I know not authoritative but this has been mentioned here before, that fungal cells very similar to human cells: " Antifungals work by exploiting differences between mammalian and fungal cells to kill the fungal organism without dangerous effects on the host. Unlike bacteria, both fungi and humans are eukaryotes. Thus fungal and human cells are similar at the molecular level. This makes it more difficult to find or design drugs that target fungi without affecting human cells. Consequently, many antifungal drugs cause side-effects. Some of these side-effects can be life-threatening if the drugs are not used properly. " This reminds me of book by oncologist Simoncini that all cancer is a fungus, which is interesting theory but if so, it is no wonder that killing the fungus/cancer if widely spread would be difficult without killing the host: Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antifungal_drug
