Guest guest
Jack, What does culturing the stool tell you about mycotoxins and colonization of molds? Dr. Gray took both a nasal swab (not early morning) and stool sample that he has cultured for 8 weeks, I think he said certain molds don't show up until 8 weeks, but don't know if that is for colonization in the body or quite what. Also, I have been out of my house for 1 1/2 months, does that mean that the Realtime Lab mycotoxins urine test that I just did today will be less indicative of an ongoing problem, if there is one for me with my house? thanks, sue >Mycotoxin in the urine means an ongoing exposure. Guest guest
Could the mold be colonized somewhere else in the body or maybe in the brain? _______________________________ From: " Jack Thrasher, Ph.D. " <toxicologist1@...> Sent: Mon, December 21, 2009 8:56:31 AM Subject: [] Re: Esoterix mold testing- anyone heard of this? Mycotoxin in the urine means an ongoing exposure. You may also have an infectious and/or colonization process of the sinuses. Aspergillus species do produce mycotoxins that appear in human serum from systemic infections in cancer patients. Thus, this probably occurs in people with chronic fungal rhinosinusitis. I recommend mycotoxin testing of early morining nasal sputum for individuals with sinusitis. They are almost invariably positive for aflatoxins and ochratoxins. Guest guest
Dr T, Would you explain what you mean by " ongoing exposure. " It sounds like exposure in one's external environment. Couldn't it be that one's external environment is safe (living in mold-free housing, for instance) but that one hasn't rid one's body of the micotoxins in their system yet. Guest guest
but doesn't the type of mycotoxin detected tell you what kind of mold is the source, although not telling you what building or part of building is the source of that mold?
