Guest guest
Are aroma compounds safe for you? Consider the " dose " like any toxin or poison. No. Most are disinfectants, meaning similar in action as chlorine, peroxide, or alcohol. Prolonged skin contact means those cells in immediate touch contact with the oil molecule will die. Be killed. One cell dead. No big problem for large animals that have trillions of cells, or one with an immune system, that will fix the damaged cell, in some cases. But a one cell germ, like bacteria or virus? Dead. No more reproduction. At least for the top layer. Underneath, the colony is still alive and safe. Back to human safety and prolonged contact. It may burn you like an acid, or base. It may absorb into your skin, and do deeper damage. It may leave a gaping wound, might swell up, into a welt or boil or rash. And it can then spread to other parts of the body. Not fun. At low doses, very low, aroma compounds are safe enough, for perfumes, fragrances, etc. They can also be used for healing. They can heal ailments with similar symptoms as to what the aroma compound causes. The oil stimulates the immune system to defend itself, which ups the treatment of the ailment that has similar symptoms. There are other mechanisms.
