Guest guest
Hi all, Wow, this is a great group-- I've learned so much... I wanted to send a quick thanks to everyone for this. I'm looking to buy a small house or condo in Denver, CO. I'm in college & have been staying with my parents to recover from living in a moldy house. My parents are saints for putting up with me living with them, but for their sanity & mine, I need my own place! In terms of buying a house, other than seeing or smelling mold, are there things like drainage issues or insulation I should be aware of? Someone mentioned old paint being bad in an earlier post, but I can't find the message now. Would anyone recommend I look for pre-1970's homes (because of the bad/tight insulation)? Anything else I should be aware of or look for? There will be a home inspector looking for mold before closing the sale, but if there's mold that can't be seen in walls or something, is there something I should put in a mold clause about this? Sorry I'm all over the place... any advice anyone can offer would be much appreciated!!
