Guest guest
President-elect must address vaccines, autism link By CURT LINDERMAN SR. Guest Opinion http://is.gd/8Agu ________________________________________ Open letter to President Elect Obama: Congratulations President-elect Obama on a historic occasion. While most Americans are most assuredly concerned about issues pertaining to our economy and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, there are many in America who are concerned about the epidemic of autism in our communities. There is little doubt that more than 1 percent of our current population suffer from this disorder. Autism is affecting far more than those families that deal with this on a daily basis. Taxpayers will continue to bear the burden of social programs that have been inundated with calls for help and our school systems are overrun due to the added burden of educating and caring for these children. While both you and Sen. McCain during the election have made public statements regarding the autism-vaccine link, I am calling on you as our future president to follow up on your campaign statements regarding the need for further research into this matter. You have made statements that have called for the reinvigoration of our healthcare system and also called for the development of new vaccines. This concerns those of us who have vaccine-injured children, primarily due to the mainstream medical community and government's disregard and cavalier attitude that it has heretofore given to our cries for help and answers. There is no doubt that autism is far more than genetic, since by the very nature of genetics, it has nothing to do with an epidemic aside from susceptibility to environmental factors. Former director of the National Institutes of Health and current health and science editor for U.S. News and World Report Dr. Bernadine Healey has been looking into the vaccine-autism link and has stated that there are peer reviewed studies that show the possibility of a link and she further stated for CBS evening news that she felt that the medical profession and the government refuse to look into the issue because " they are afraid of what they might find. " A number of studies will be coming out early in 2009 that will most assuredly bring this issue further into focus. One of these is the Burbacher macaque monkey study that shows a direct correlation between vaccinated monkeys and autistic behavior (while the unvaccinated monkeys in the study show zero signs of this behavior). This is not an issue that can further be forgotten about, overlooked or covered up, as your predecessor has done. This is not an issue that can only be about the financial welfare of the pharmaceutical manufacturers, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the medical community. This is a real- life issue that is affecting far too many families in this country as well as throughout the world. The divorce rate of families with autistic children is higher than the average, the bankruptcy rate is far above the national average and families are being torn apart by this disorder that I firmly believe is largely preventable. I call on you to listen to our voices and understand that hundreds of thousands of parents across this country are screaming from the proverbial rooftops that vaccines have stolen their children from them. We will no longer be ignored. A president who wants to remain president will have to listen to the multitude of parents out here that are demanding answers. You say that you are all about " change; " I hope that this change will be about what is best for the children of this great nation. Change for the sake of change is worth nothing and can unfortunately go in either direction. Listening to the many parents out there, acknowledging the many recovered children that have done so as a direct result of detoxification and biomedical treatments and demanding answers from those who have for too long covered up and ignored the obvious is one way to tell the American people that you are truly concerned about those of us who have been forced to deal with autism on a daily basis while the remainder of the world passes us by. Pay attention to us and I as a registered Republican will support you. Ignore us and continue the cavalier attitudes of the past two presidents at your own political peril. A child is being diagnosed every 20 minutes in this country; that's two parents, four grandparents and countless nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles who will be voting in the next election. Sooner or later, everybody will have to deal with this problem. The question is: " will it be out of necessity or compassion? "
Guest guest
Obama's Disability Advisory Committee has been under the spell of a neurodiversity adviser. It will be a trick to reverse this source of misinformation.
