Autistic child in Nebraska undergoes experimental treatment

AABB SmartBrief | 11/26/2008 http://is.gd/9amw

The blind and autistic son of a Nebraska couple recently underwent an

experimental cord blood stem cell procedure in China to nurture

undeveloped neurons in the boy's brain. The patient's mother said she

observed improvements in her son's behavioral and eating patterns

after the third treatment. A stem cell expert, however, said the

procedure is unproven and could have harmful effects. KETV-TV (Omaha,

Neb.) (11/25)
