Guest guest
One of the comments on that " Confessions...Not a warrior mom " post was about ABA causing *47%* of children with ASD to " lose " their diagnoses and be " virutally indistinguishable from peers " . Maybe they can say this because 60% of parents of children with autism now believe vaccines did it and many more are practicing biomed than a few years ago. But ABA alone " curing " 47%? Am I alone in doubting this is true?
Guest guest
If ABA cured the medical issues, that would make autism psychosocial, wouldn't it? We'll be shelling out for some ABA for our twins because they're at a point where they can handle it after a year and a half of alternative medical treatments. My son doesn't curl up into a ball anymore when prompted. And the providers are " radical " ABA-- they'll utilize anything that works and believe in environmental cause, support the diet and chelation and the whole nine yards. And they hate the use of psych drugs. There are other practitioners who are the reverse, who believe ABA alone-- with the aid of mother's little helper, antipsychotics-- are the only proven approaches. We wouldn't trust people like that to care for the welfare of our kids. If they're that wrong in their ideology, they'll be wrong in every other little thing. > > I totally doubt that. Guest guest
As far as I can see, ABA is only ONE piece of the puzzle. Yes, ABA may be helpful for some kids, but it may not help others. The biomedical issues need to be addressed as well.
